Prosecutor: Waterford man charged with murdering fiancée before calling police on himself

A Waterford man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his fiancée, who authorities say was found bludgeoned on a bedroom floor after police were called to the home by the defendant himself. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office, a man made a 911 call on June 13 to report that he had stabbed his fiancée. When Waterford Township police arrived at the home on Hackett Street, they first encountered the caller outside of the home: 25-year-old Seth Martin. He had blood on his arms and directed the officers inside, prosecutors said. Once inside the home, the officers found the victim on a bedroom floor. Mallory Myers had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police also recovered the suspected murder weapon in a sink, they said, but without elaborating on what kind of weapon it was. Prosecutor: St. Clair Shores man incompetent to stand trial in fatal beating of mother 'Domestic violence is a leading cause of death for women ages 15-44,' Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in announcing the murder charges on June 16. Martin is currently behind bars at the Oakland County Jail, where he has been held since his arrest on the night he called 911. An attorney of record has not been listed for him. A possible motive has not yet been disclosed. 'Detectives will continue to gather facts and evidence in this case, all of which will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for their review and consideration of criminal charges,' Waterford Township Police Chief Scott Underwood previously said in a news release. First degree murder is punishable by a mandatory life prison sentence, without the possibility of parole.
