Noma Mngoma, Sonia Booth, Dawn Thandeka King and Nonku Williams share their divorce stories

Showmax has introduced a new show called Untied to tell divorce stories of public figures. The show features actresses, businesswomen and media personalities, including Norma Mngoma, Nonku Williams and Dawn Thandeka King. Untied will be hosted by media personality Relebogile Mabotja. It premieres on 24 June on Showmax. Eight famous women are set to open up and become vulnerable as they share their divorce stories in a new show presented by media personality Relebogile Mabotja. Making the list are reality TV stars, businesswomen, broadcasters and actresses. The Showmax original by GOAT Productions, which also produced Unfollowed and The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip—South Africa, will have the featured women dive deep into their divorce stories and life after divorce. Untied promises to tackle the uncomfortable yet honest truths behind the women's stories while also opening up the floor to truth-telling, vulnerability and healing. The women will let viewers in on their stories, including tales of infidelity, abuse, depression, family conflict, grief, survival, and ultimately, rebirth. The first episode will feature Norma Mngoma, who is the ex-wife of politician Malusi Gigaba. Their fallout was witnessed through social media and mainstream media, with Malusi's cheating ways being exposed and Mngoma being arrested by the Hawks in July 2020 on charges of malicious damage to property and crimen injuria. The charges were withdrawn by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in 2021, citing that her arrest was unlawful. More episodes will feature reality stars Beverly Steyn and Nonku Williams, actresses Dawn Thandeka King, Mona Monyane and Palesa Madisakwane, media personality Zandi Nhlapo, and model and social entrepreneur Sonia Booth, whose fallout with ex-husband, retired football star Matthew Booth was witnessed in real time on social media. The multi-award-winning Mabotja, who will also be taking up the associate producer role, said she first pitched for the show through her production company, Lebotja Media, but she did not get it. However, the universe aligned, she said, as she added that she was happy to be brought in as the host. Mabotja has built a name and cemented herself in the entertainment industry as an actress on shows such as Zone 14, Generations, Rhythm City and Isidingo, just to name a few. She currently hosts 702 Afternoons with Relebogile Mabotja and Unpacked with Relebogile Mabotja on S3 and has a podcast called The Relebogile Mabotja Podcast on YouTube. Supplied Mabotja is also a producer behind huge shows like Miss South Africa, the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), musician Tyla's Showmax Homecoming Concert and the upcoming Shaka Ilembe season 2 Gold Carpet Experience. The media personality shared that some moments were too painful to process in real time. 'There's a moment that absolutely broke me. It was a story of losing a child. As a mother, I couldn't hold back the tears. We've been raised to see a woman's value in whether she can attract and keep a man. Untied challenges that idea,' said Mabotja. She added: I don't think there's a single episode where I was not shocked or moved just by the details and what some of these women have not just been through but have also overcome. My face completely gives me away. I hope viewers walk away more empathetic. Not just to the women on this show, but to their partners, their friends, their sisters, and most importantly, to themselves. Mabotja said she was intentional about ensuring the show does not slip into gossip. She said she created a space for the woman to be vulnerable. She added that she also kept things respectful, considerate and mindful at all times. Showmax has released the trailer, and viewers seem to be looking forward to it, while others suggest that even the men must be called for their side of the story. Untied is set to drop its first episode on Showmax on Tuesday, 24 June.

Defence Committee welcomes SANDF's secure withdrawal from DRC

The Joint Standing Committee on Defence has welcomed the South African National Defence Force's (SANDF) ongoing withdrawal from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), citing assurances from senior commanders that the process is steady and secure. The committee also backed continued support for regional peacekeeping efforts and the extension of Operation Copper. Co-Chairperson of the Committee Malusi Gigaba, said the arrival of two convoys at a transit camp marked progress in the safe repatriation of forces and equipment. 'The assurance that all measures have been put in place to ensure that the movement and withdrawal of both personnel and equipment will be done safely and securely and the arrival of the two convoys at the transit camp is a testament to the effective planning that has taken place,' he said. The committee noted that prime mission equipment would be transported by sea and highlighted the importance of ensuring its security, especially since private contractors will be involved. It also expects a full exit report upon the mission's conclusion, including financial details.

Saints and style: Malusi Gigaba and his fiancée make a statement at IPHC Church

From the political podium to the pews of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Malusi Gigaba and his fiancée are serving faith-filled fashion moments that are nothing short of iconic. The power couple radiated devotion, designer flair, and a deep spiritual connection with the International Pentecost Holiness Church (IPHC) as they attended this year's mass wedding in style. A divine walk in style and spirit Malusi Gigaba, once a dominant figure in South Africa's political theatre and currently a member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC, is now turning heads for an entirely different reason. Known as the 'Minister of Drip' due to his fashionable attire, he maintained this fashion title alongside his graceful partner, fiancée Nomfundo Fakudze. Steeped in Tradition The couple attended the mass wedding ceremony, where more than 3 000 couples tied the knot during the Easter weekend. Some of the traditions around the ceremony allow women to propose to men, while men can marry up to five wives. Couples are given two years to prepare for the ceremony, the man must find a place to live for his future family, and the property should be listed in both spouses' names. Couples' counselling is mandatory before the wedding and has also been embraced by previously married church members, contributing to low divorce rates thanks to ongoing marital support. Picture: Nigel Sibanda The former Home Affairs Minister has found spiritual refuge this weekend at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), a church as rich in history as it is in tradition. But what caught the public eye isn't just their devotion — it's their unapologetically stylish presence at the mass wedding service. Fashion-forward and spiritually grounded, the couple is redefining what it means to dress for church in 2025. Silo, Zuurbekom, near Westonaria in Gauteng, South Africa, the church is known for its grand pilgrimages, strict doctrine, and an unshakeable sense of order and unity. Every year during the Easter weekend, millions of congregants dressed in coordinated wedding outfits flood into Kanana, regarded as a spiritual dome, to take their mass vows and get married, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in Africa. It's this spirit of discipline and presentation that Gigaba and his partner have embraced, with their unique flair. Modern Royalty in Monochrome Picture: Instagram The pair consistently draws attention with their elegant interpretation of the church's modest dress code. The IPHC typically encourages white garments, symbolising purity and unity, with men and women in structured, often uniform attire. Gigaba, a seasoned style icon, stays true to IPHC sensibilities while incorporating modern tailoring. Think crisp white mandarin-collar shirts, high-waisted pleated trousers, and clean-cut suit jackets that respect the church's dress culture while still nodding to continental fashion trends. Nomfundo elevates the uniform concept with subtle glamour, pleated midi skirts, embroidered shawls, and headwraps styled in regal symmetry, echoing African queen energy with every appearance. She favours a palette of white and soft neutrals and blue, often accessorised with pearl drop earrings and lace-detailed gloves, balancing tradition with a polished, editorial edge. While Malusi compliments her in a navy suit, peach tie, and light pocket square. ALSO READ : Look younger in just two hours — no surgery, no creams required! When uniforms become statements IPHC fashion is dress code symbolic. Uniforms distinguish rank and gender, with the women of the church donning red hats, long skirts, and blouses that reflect humility and order. Men wear suits or traditional white shirts paired with dark or light trousers. Within this framework, the Gigabas have found a way to honour the church's longstanding customs while infusing subtle elements of couture. 'They walk in like they know the assignment,' said one congregant on social media. 'It's not loud or flashy, powerful and intentional.' And it is. Their fashion choices not only align with church protocol but also send a message: reverence doesn't mean you can't be radiant. Faith, order, and personal reinvention Picture: Nigel Sibanda While the IPHC has had its share of controversies in recent years, most notably the ongoing leadership disputes following the death of Glayton Modise, it remains a cornerstone of faith and identity for millions. Their move toward visible faith and structure signals a shift from public spectacle to inner restoration, without losing the glamour that once defined them. Fashion that preaches Picture: Instagram Ultimately, Malusi Gigaba and Nomfundo serve as a reminder to netizens that one can remain rooted in tradition while effortlessly evolving in style.
