Charlotte restaurants that deserve a Michelin star, according to Axios readers
The Michelin Guide will soon expand to restaurants in the South, and Charlotte chefs and foodies alike are buzzing about it.
Why it matters: North Carolina tourism offices will pay $345,000 annually over multiple years for the chance to be included in the Michelin Guide's expansion into the South, Axios' Alex Sands reports. But a guide doesn't guarantee a star.
Context: We asked our nearly 150,000 newsletter subscribers which Charlotte restaurant they think deserves a nod from Michelin. Below are some of their responses.

The other side: Not all our readers think Charlotte's food scene is ready for a star.
"Stop this fake rah-rah for Charlotte restaurants. Have you ever eaten in a Michelin-starred restaurant? We have around the world and none of Charlotte's restaurants even come close to the standard of a 1-star restaurant." — Marti B.
My thought bubble: Perhaps Charlotte will qualify for a Bib Gourmand? BGs are a different kind of recognition from the Michelin Guide, which recognizes high-quality, "good value" restaurants.
