Special schools across UP empowering Divyang students
Lucknow: In a move aimed at inclusive development, state govt is prioritising educational empowerment of Divyangjans (differently abled individuals). There are 16 special schools operational across the state, with a total capacity of 2,040 students.
Currently, 1,680 students are enrolled in these institutions and are progressing towards self-reliance through education and increased social inclusion.
The schools cater to specific needs, including 'Prayas Vidyalayas' for children with mobility challenges in Pratapgarh and Lucknow and 'Mamta Vidyalayas' for children with intellectual disabilities in Prayagraj and Lucknow. Likewise, 'Sanket Vidyalayas' in Agra, Lucknow, Bareilly, Farrukhabad and Gorakhpur serve speech and hearing-impaired children, while 'Sparsh Vidyalayas' in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Banda, and Saharanpur are dedicated to visually impaired children.
