Who is Hannah Berner, whose Megan Thee Stallion interview went viral for the wrong reasons? The Giggly Squad host was criticised for her comment during a red carpet interview with the rapper
Comedian Hannah Berner has apologised for her interaction with rapper Megan Thee Stallion during an interview on the red carpet of the Vanity Fair Oscars Party on March 2. Berner, who was doing red carpet interviews with her Giggly Squad podcast co-host Paige DeSorbo, was visibly excited to meet the artist. Hannah Berner is a podcast host with 1.5 million followers on Instagram. Photo: @hannahberner/Instagram Advertisement 'You give so much confidence to women everywhere,' Berner told the 'Mamushi' rapper before going on to say, 'When I wanna fight someone I listen to your music'. The three-time Grammy winner responded by turning the conversation back to her outfit 'You wanna throw that fighting s**t out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad b***h.' The latter part of their interaction immediately received backlash online as people called out Berner's 'fighting' comment as micro aggression and claimed she was perpetuating the stereotype of Black women being aggressors. Taking to her Instagram stories on March 6, Berner apologised, saying: 'Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except 'fight' to describe how her songs impact me,' Berner said. 'It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognise and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan.' Shortly after Berner's apology, Rolling Stone published an article suggesting that the trend of using influencers instead of journalists for red-carpet interviews was part of the problem. 'Pushing untrained creators out onto the red carpet in the hopes of virality is making a bleak media landscape even worse,' the piece said. But who is Hannah Berner? Here's what you need to know. She was a professional tennis player Hannah Berner played tennis at university. Photo: @hannahberner/Instagram Hannah Berner was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Mike Sunda: ‘Creative production comes with a bigger responsibility than ever before'
Mike Sunda , 36, is a creative strategist and co-founder of the studio Push Japan. A former writer for The Japan Times, he served as executive producer on the award-winning music video for Megan Thee Stallion's 'Mamushi." 1. What was your relationship to Japanese culture in your younger years? Even growing up in a diverse city like London, Japanese culture wasn't nearly as ubiquitous or as visible as it is today. My exposure came from niche fragments that I discovered either serendipitously or just through a general curiosity: Takashi Miike films on late-night cable TV; Mad Capsule Markets music videos on MTV2; puroresu (pro wrestling) DVDs I ordered online. 2. Can you share a highlight from your academic pursuits? I was lucky to study under many great teachers, but the most influential was professor David Slater at Sophia University. He gave me the opportunity to research buraku caste discrimination at the Shinagawa slaughterhouse, which turned into two of my most referenced articles for

Megan Thee Stallion Rocks the 'Inverted' Futuristic Nail Trend That's All Over TikTok: 'It's Giving 2025 but in 3035'
Megan Thee Stallion is turning the nail game upside down! The Grammy winner, 29, has been all over Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, including at the Gaurav Gupta Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2025 show on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in a strapless brown corset thong bodysuit paired with plenty of metal embellishments. But there's one aspect to the daring look that even Meg herself didn't see the vision in — at least until she saw it in action. While speaking with WWD ahead of the show, the "Wanna Be" rapper (born Megan Pete) revealed what her reaction was to finding out she'd be rocking inverted nails for the outing. "I was scratching my head like, 'What do that mean? Put the nail on backwards?' And I didn't see the vision at first," Megan said. "But when I got the nails on my fingers, I said, 'Yes!'" "That's what the girls are gonna be doing, so you're seeing it here first." Elsewhere in her GRWM video, the musician joked about why her nails were reversed. "My nails are pointing at me because I love myself," she said. After Megan stepped out in Paris, Tahvya Krok — the owner of Nailed by Tav — shared a closer look at the sleek brown nails to Instagram, captioning the look with the words "relic reversal. According to her Instagram, Krok has worked on Megan's nails on several occasions, including during a recent trip to South Korea with the music superstar, for a unique and colorful striped look and even on a special set for the rapper's August music video for "Mamushi." The inverted nail trend may have just made it to Meg's nails, but it's been picking up steam on TikTok for the past few months. Content creators have been trying out different lengths to varying reactions on the social media platform, but it looks like the trend is gaining traction and going more mainstream.
