YSU's Pakistani Indian Student Association throws Bollywood Bash
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — It was a night of Bollywood-style celebration at Youngstown State University on Sunday.
The Pakistani Indian Student Association put on the Bollywood Bash party, which had about 300 attendees in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The event was intended as a vibrant celebration of South Asian culture as well as the cultural diversity and unity of YSU, featuring performances and dances, music and food.
Manav Ashish Desai, president of PISA, says it's a way to help all the students feel a little less homesick.
'It's fun. The emotions and sentiment attached to Bollywood night — when they hear the songs, it makes them feel nostalgic, alive, accepted. It's our way of expressing celebration,' Desai said.
The celebration was the third annual Desi Night at YSU.
