Ex-boyfriend arrested almost three years after nurse's murder
A man has been arrested for the murder of an Mpumalanga nurse almost three years after her death.
'Following an intensive and meticulous investigation, police were able to positively link a suspect, believed to be the victim's ex-boyfriend, to the crime. The suspect, Mandla Sizwe Nkosi, 36, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder,' police spokesperson Sergeant Thulisile Magagula said.
Nkosi appeared in the Kanyamazane Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder.
The case was postponed to 6 June 2025 for a bail application.
Acting provincial police commissioner Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi commended the investigators.
Last year, the estranged husband of a Limpopo nurse was arrested in connection with her murder.
Mumsy Serishane, 51, was killed near Lebowakgomo Hospital on 23 October. A month later, police arrested 56-year-old Fanie Serishane in connection with the murder.
According to eyewitness accounts, Serishane got out of a taxi and was shot moments later.
Initially, it was believed that the attack could be linked to an attempted robbery at the spaza shop, which is near the hospital.
