These include services on the Kottayam-Nilambur, Kollam-Alappuzha, Nagercoil-Kottayam and T'puram routes. T'puram divisional railway manager Manish Thaplyal emphasized that these improvements reflect careful analysis of passenger needs and demand patterns. Over past year, nine major express trains got additional coaches, including popular services to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and important pilgrimage destinations. The expansion addresses increasing demand from both long-distance travellers and daily commuters. Due to track congestion limiting new train services, the railway is focusing on adding coaches to existing trains. The Dec 2024 to May 2025 period saw peak temporary augmentation, with 31 train pairs enhanced across 1,023 trips to meet seasonal demand. TNN
