Harry Morgan, Kylie Morris will face off for election as Millcreek Township supervisor

Businessman Harry Morgan has defeated incumbent Dan Ouellet for the Republican nomination for Millcreek Township supervisor, according to unofficial election results. Physician Kylie Morris won the Democratic nomination, defeating Dean Carlson, a streets foreman for the township. Morgan took 2,371 votes to 1,307 for Ouellet, including early mail-in votes. Morris had 2,901 votes to 2.659 for Carlson. "I feel good. I feel positive," Morgan said of his win. "It felt great to be at the polls, with the amount of support I had." Morgan attributes his win to public disapproval of the township's purchase of West Eighth Street properties for redevelopment. The township bought the former Joe Root's Grill, Sandbar Draft House & Grille, Manor Motel, Grasshopper shop and Bel-Aire Hotel for $7.2 million in January 2023 with the goal of preparing the properties for new uses in keeping with the township's Embrace Millcreek comprehensive plan. "Mostly I heard at the polls that people want change," Morgan said. "They don't want Millcreek to be in the real estate business and are worried about township infrastructure. Money that was earmarked for infrastructure went to the real estate purchase." With uncertainty about whether voters will choose a new form of government this fall, as recommended by the Millcreek Township Government Study Commission, Morgan said that he plans to work for the township for at least a year if he is elected. "There's a lot of work to do before the election. But I would have at least one full year being supervisor if elected and I would work tirelessly for Millcreek," Morgan said. Morris could not be reached for comment after the election results were announced late on May 20.
