Mansfield Male Voice Choir perform with Pembroke group
The performance saw the Mansfield Male Voice Choir hosted by the Pembroke and District Male Voice, celebrating a long-standing camaraderie. The event welcomed the newly elected mayor of Pembroke, Cllr Gareth Jones, with the vicar, Rev Heidi de Gruchy, addressing the audience. Both choirs presented individual pieces before joining together for the finale, performing 'My Lord What a Morning' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. Mansfield's set included 'The Gentlemen', an octet group known for close harmony, performing 'Calendar Girls' and the Righteous Brothers' 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling'. The choir also showcased their Welsh language skills with 'Ar Hyd Ar Nos' and 'O Gymru'. In honour of the VE-Day 80th anniversary, the Pembroke choir included 'Let A New Day Dawn' and 'Tell My Father' in their programme. The evening was memorable for John Griffiths, a new bass section member, as he performed in his first concert. The conductors for the evening were Ian Grice of Mansfield and Juliet Rossiter of Pembroke. The choirs later gathered for a luncheon at the Town Hall and a post-concert reception at the Power Station Club.

Chepstow and Mansfield male voice choirs perform together
The concert took place at The Drill Hall in Chepstow on May 5, bank holiday Monday. More than 50 choristers from Chepstow Male Voice Choir (CMVC) and Mansfield Male Voice Choir joined together to perform. The audience included Chepstow's deputy mayor. CMVC invited Mansfield to come and join them for this joint concert, finishing off their tour of Cardiff and the surrounding areas. Both choirs played together in a joint performance but also performed separately. The evening also featured Clive Lewis playing the cornet. This event was organised after the two choirs performed for the charity last year at The Royal Albert Hall in London. Bill Evans, CMVC events manager said: "They are a top choir and have invited us to join them in Manfield in 2027". Kirsten Watson, the musical director at Chepstow Male Voice Choir, said: "The day was outstandingly successful in showing our Welsh hospitality, of camaraderie between choristers and musicians and the resulting concert of wonderful music making."

Choral friendship rekindled in Monkton
LONG-STANDING choral connections were celebrated at Monkton Priory Church as Mansfield Male Voice Choir was warmly welcomed by old friends in the Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir. The event drew a supportive audience, including the newly elected Mayor of Pembroke, Councillor Gareth Jones. All were welcomed by the Vicar of Monkton, the Rev Heidi de Gruchy. Both choirs delivered individual performances before joining forces for a rousing finale, singing 'My Lord What a Morning' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. The pieces were conducted in turn by Musical Directors Ian Grice (Mansfield) and Juliet Rossiter (Pembroke). Mansfield's programme featured several highlights, including a set by 'The Gentlemen', a superb close-harmony octet whose selections ranged from 'Calendar Girls' to the Righteous Brothers classic, 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling'. The choir also impressed with their performances in Welsh, singing 'Ar Hyd y Nos' and 'O Gymru' with skill and sensitivity. Pembroke's set reflected the 80th anniversary of VE Day, offering moving renditions of 'Let a New Day Dawn' and 'Tell My Father'. The evening's MC was Pembroke chorister Matthew John, while accompanists were Maureen Lockwood for Mansfield and William Lambert for the hosts. It was a particularly memorable evening for John Griffiths, a new addition to the bass section, who took to the stage for his first concert performance. Choristers enjoyed lunch together at Pembroke Town Hall and a post-concert reception at the Power Station Club, before the Mansfield party departed for Cardiff to continue their tour of south and west Wales.
