Israel has killed three more Iranian nuclear scientists, raising the total number of scientists slain to nine, according to Gulf News. Eliminating Nuclear Scientists The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrote on its X account, 'ELIMINATED: 9 senior scientists and experts responsible for advancing the Iranian regime's nuclear weapons program.' In a video accompanied by the message, the IDF shared the names of dead scientists, as follows: Mansour Asgari Saeed Barji Mohammad Mahdi Tehranshi Fereydoun Abbasi Akbar Motalebi Zadeh Ali Bakhouei Katirimi Ahmad Reza Zolfaghari Daryani Abd al-Hamid Minoushehr Amir Hassan Fakhahi 'All of the eliminated scientists and experts, eliminated based on intelligence, were key factors in the development of Iranian nuclear weapons,' the IDF said. Importantly, Israel stated that eliminating Iranian scientists and experts represents a major setback to Iranian regime that was trying to acquire nuclear weapons. 'Their elimination is a significant blow to the regime's ability to acquire weapons of mass destruction,' the IDF added. Operation Rising Lion On June 13, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists. As a response, Iran launched a retaliatory wave of missiles against Israel and targeted Tel Aviv. "Three of the country's nuclear scientists -- Ali Bekaei Karimi, Mansour Asgari, and Saeed Borji -- were martyred during the Zionist regime's terrorist attacks," the broadcaster said. Iran: Death toll of scientists killed in Israeli strikes climbs to 9
Iran has confirmed the deaths of three more nuclear scientists in the Israeli airstrikes targeting the country's nuclear programme and military leadership, according to the Tasnim news agency on Saturday. The scientists – Ali Bakai Karimi, Mansour Asgari and Said Borji – were killed in Israeli airstrikes, it reported. This brings the number of known fatalities among Iran's nuclear experts to at least nine. Under international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, civilians are granted explicit protection during armed conflict. Scientists are generally classified as civilians unless they are directly participating in combat operations. Targeted killings outside those specific conditions may constitute a violation of the laws of war. Israeli launched a large-scale attack on Iran early on Friday. Tehran has retaliated with waves of ballistic missiles and drone attacks. Both sides have reported casualties. Despite growing international pressure for de-escalation, neither side appears willing to step back from the conflict as it enters its second day.
