PHCC fetes outstanding staff in presence of minister

Tribune News Network Doha On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) held its Annual Corporate Forum in the presence of Minister of Public Health HE Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, and PHCC Managing Director Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik. The event was also attended by several members of the executive leadership team, health centre managers, department heads, honoured employees, and several clinical and administrative staff. This annual forum serves as a tribute to PHCC employees and their outstanding contributions to the ongoing journey of healthcare excellence and development. It reflects PHCC's commitment to a culture of recognition—one of the pillars of a positive and motivating work environment. National Health Strategy At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik delivered a speech highlighting the corporation's major achievements in 2024 and early 2025, including success in international accreditations, improvements in service quality, expanded access to care, development of national talent, and enhanced employee satisfaction. She said that the 'continued support of our wise leadership, along with our commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Health Strategy 2023–2030, is what drives us toward excellence. Within this framework, we launched our Corporate Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which focuses on population health and expanding access to high-quality healthcare services. 'The year 2024 witnessed key accomplishments, including PHCC receiving the Canadian Diamond Accreditation for the fourth time and winning the Patient-Centred Care Award. We also enhanced our preparedness through business continuity workshops and strategies and field exercises. 'In the field of education and development,' she continued, 'we maintained ACGME-I Accreditation in Family Medicine and received, for the first time, ACGME-I Accreditation in Community Medicine. We also signed a research collaboration agreement with Hamad Bin Khalifa University.' She noted the expansion of services, with over 1.8 million registered beneficiaries and more than 3 million family medicine visits—a 28% growth. New specialized services were launched, including urgent care, sepsis detection, cancer survivor care, and expanded ophthalmology services. Regarding human resources, nationalization reached 27%, with over 400 Qatari employees promoted. The Corporation also achieved strong job satisfaction levels and introduced new motivational initiatives. 'Ataa' group speech Dr. Muna Taher delivered a speech on behalf of her colleagues in the 'Ataa' group—employees who have served PHCC for over 25 years. 'I am honoured to stand before you today on behalf of my colleagues who have dedicated a quarter of a century to PHCC,' she said. 'Twenty-five years have passed, and our steps have never faltered. We walked this path with love, sincerity, and hope for fulfilment.' She recalled attending her first recognition ceremony at the start of her career, admiring the honourees and wondering if she would one day stand among them. 'And here I am today, grateful for every moment and for everyone who accompanied me on this journey,' she said. She shared that although she began her career in paediatrics, a simple moment with her father led her to switch to family medicine, where she found deeper meaning and connection with people. She closed her speech proudly: 'After 25 years, I say with pride—it has been a journey full of giving. I thank the Corporation and its leadership and pledge to continue serving our country with sincerity.' Honouring outstanding staff The ceremony included the recognition of distinguished 'Ataa' employees who have served PHCC for over 25 years, in appreciation of their long professional journeys and loyal service. Awards were also presented to outstanding directorates and health centres across the northern, central, and western regions, as well as to the winners of the Staff Satisfaction Survey Award, reflecting PHCC's commitment to improving employee experience and fostering positive competition. Staff Satisfaction Survey Awards PHCC Managing Director honoured the following four entities for winning the Staff Satisfaction Survey Award: •Leghwairiya Health Centre •Al Mashaf Health Centre •West Bay Health Centre •Strategy Planning and Health Intelligence In addition, the following five departments were honoured: •Human Resources •Corporate Project Management Office •HIM Operations •Managing Director Office •Clinical Effectiveness The following outstanding committees were recognized: Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik also recognized outstanding committees at PHCC, including: • The Corporate Ethics Committee (award received by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Ali, Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety) • The Drug Management Committee and the Code Blue Committee (both awards received by Dr. Samya Ahmed Al Abdullah, Executive Director of Operations) The PHCC managing director honoured the following outstanding health centres: •Madinat Khalifa Health Centre (Northern Region) – Represented by Dr. Amal Saeed Al Yafei •Al Sadd Health Centre (Central Region) – Represented by Dr. Muna Ahmed Al Hail •Abu Nakhla Health Centre (Western Region) – Represented by Dr. Fahima Ahmed Nabina Musallam Mubarak Al Nabit, assistant managing director, honoured 40 employees from various departments. Dr. Samya Ahmed Al Abdullah, executive director of operations, honoured the outstanding staff from health centres: •37 employees from the Northern Region •43 employees from the Central Region •43 employees from the Western Region The event reflects PHCC's commitment to corporate excellence and its efforts to inspire creativity and innovation among its staff enhancing the quality of services provided to patients and the broader community. The Corporate Forum stands out as a key annual event that brings PHCC's vision to life—building a work environment rooted in appreciation, development, and empowerment, while celebrating the collective efforts driving Qatar's healthcare future forward.

Health minister affirms Qatar's active role in supporting global health security

GENEVA: Minister of Public Health HE Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud has affirmed the State of Qatar's firm commitment to supporting the World Health Organization (WHO) and its mission to build a healthy future based on strong partnerships and a clear vision for achieving the values of justice. He emphasized Qatar's belief that health is both an end and a means to achieving a more just, secure, and humane world. In his address to the World Health Assembly currently being held in Geneva, the Minister said that the State of Qatar has a firm belief that health was a cross-border issue. He added that the country was committed, through the high-level strategic dialogue with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the 14th General Programme of Work, to achieve WHO's strategic objectives. He highlighted Qatar's active role in supporting global health security and promoting development and humanitarian assistance to affected countries. This was demonstrated by its rapid response to crises and ensuring equitable access to health resources in cooperation with its regional and international partners. The Minister also noted that the Third National Health Strategy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, focuses on achieving universal health coverage, health equity, improving patient experience, and enhancing the efficiency of the health system. He indicated that the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for more than a year and a half due to the Israeli aggression, calls for intensified efforts by the international community and international organizations to end this suffering and restore the human right to a dignified life and healthcare. It is worth noting that the World Health Assembly is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 19 to 27 under the theme 'One World for Health'. Al Mahmoud is heading the State of Qatar's delegation participating in the meetings.
