Maono Wave T5 review: A compact wireless mic kit that punches above its weight
The Maono Wave T5 is a compact, clip-on wireless lavalier microphone designed for creators, vloggers, and on-the-go professionals. With specs like 48kHz/24-bit audio, up to 300 metres of claimed wireless range, and built-in noise cancellation, the Wave T5 looks like an excellent value for the money system. Design and build quality The Wave T5 features two lightweight transmitter mics and comes with accessories that make setup easy and intuitive. Each transmitter weighs just 9 grams and has a clean, rounded square form that feels premium despite its compact size. The magnets built into the back are strong and allow for flexible placement using the included back clips or lanyards, which is ideal for presenters who don't want to fuss with complicated mounting. The charging case is reasonably compact and sturdy enough to toss into a gear bag. Everything fits inside neatly, and there's even a carry pouch for a more streamlined travel kit. Sound performance Sound quality is where the Wave T5 really excels, thanks to a 48kHz/24-bit resolution, 120dB maximum SPL, and an 80dB signal-to-noise ratio. It delivers clean, detailed recordings across a wide dynamic range. Whether I was whispering indoors or projecting outdoors with wind blowing, it handled the extremes well. There are three noise cancellation modes and 14 adjustable levels, which you can fine-tune using the free Maono Link app, available for both iOS and Android. While I didn't always need the app, when I did use it, I found it allowed for a decent amount of customisation. Filters like 'Warmth,' 'Brightness,' 'Voice Enhancer,' or 'Huskiness' enable you to tailor your tone to suit your recording environment or personal style. The lack of a built-in headphone jack means real-time monitoring isn't possible unless you rely on playback. Fortunately, the system supports playback directly without requiring the receiver to be unplugged, which is a helpful feature. Usability The setup is plug-and-play. I tried it on a phone, tablet, and my Sony A7 IV mirrorless camera, and it worked seamlessly with all of them. The dual-button layout on the transmitters is intuitive: a power button with a long press for noise cancellation, and a second multifunction button that mutes with one tap and doubles as a remote shutter for video or photos when held — a clever bonus for solo creators. The transmitters offer up to nine hours of battery life each, and the case can extend this to a total of 30 hours before needing a top-up. That's more than enough for long recording sessions or full-day shoots. I tested the range and managed to get surprisingly far, certainly over 100 metres. While I didn't measure exactly 300 metres, it held a stable connection well beyond what most users would realistically need. Features and compatibility In the combo kit I received for this review, there were USB-C and Lightning receivers, making it compatible with everything from the latest Androids and iPhones to iPads and laptops. There's also a 3.5mm receiver for traditional camera setups, so you're well covered across most gear ecosystems. I also appreciated the small extras, such as the fur-lined windscreens (great for outdoor use) and magnetic lanyards, which made wearing the mic both comfortable and discreet. You can charge your device through the receiver while in use, which is ideal for older iPhones or long-form streaming sessions where battery anxiety is a concern. Verdict The Maono Wave T5 combo kit is a versatile wireless lav mic system that punches far above its price tag. It offers clear, professional-quality sound with intelligent noise cancellation, intuitive controls, and a feature set that rivals pricier competitors, such as DJI. While I'd love to see a headphone monitoring option, it's a small compromise in what is otherwise a superbly rounded kit. €114 Maono Combo kit,

Maono Wave T5 wireless microphone tested: simple to use and top quality audio
Whether you are a content creator making YouTube or TikTok videos, a podcaster or an office worker who engages in a lot of Zoom meetings, one of the most important things to consider is audio quality. Maono Wave T5 is an accessory that will deliver top notch sound for all of the above, consisting of two compact Lavalier microphone transmitters and three receivers. It delivers dual-channel 48kHz 24-bit recording with AI-powered intelligent noise cancellation. The Maono Wave T5 Combo Kit which I tested comes with a robustly made and premium looking charging case with the three battery operated modules (which are the two transmitters and a camera receiver). The case protects the microphones and charges them on the go, so you're never left without battery during a busy day. The transmitters each have a built-in microphone, a power/noise reduction button, a mute/remote camera button, an indicator LED and a magnetic sheet for attaching the lapel clips. The magnets are also strong enough to hold the mic in place through whatever you are wearing and even when you are moving around. You just pop the microphone on and you are ready to go. A magnetic sheet necklace (two are included in the box) can also be used to hang a transmitter around the neck in situations where your subject may not be wearing typical clothing. This ease of use is one of the biggest selling points with Wave T5. There's a free smartphone app (for Android and iPhone) to control everything so you don't need to fiddle with the small buttons on the transmitters. Within the app, incoming audio signals can be monitored, microphone gain can be adjusted and both AI Noise Reduction and Sound Coloration modes can be switched on or off. The Dual Channel feature allows you to choose either mono or stereo recordings and determines whether mic audio is recorded in the left channel, right channel or both. Sadly, there's currently no app for Windows or Mac. Audio quality is consistently pleasing, adding a professional sheen to your content with plenty of warmth and detail. Also bundled in the case are two receivers, one with a Lightning connector and the other with USB-C. These receivers can be attached directly to smartphones and computers for recording or streaming. You'll be up and running in seconds with this approach too and I found the connection reliably stable. The box also includes windshields to cut down on noise if you are filming outdoors and a pouch in which you can store away everything safely. There is also AI-powered noise reduction to further eliminate background chat or ambient noise from your surroundings. One of the most rewarding aspects of using the Maono Wave T5 is the receiver is powered and therefore can be used directly with a digital recording device or a camera using the included 3.5mm audio cable. Battery life is also great at up to 10 hours. This means you can wear it for the full working day, knowing you'll have superior audio quality on all your important video calls and meetings. I've tested it with a range of devices and I love the way Maono Wave T5 pairs automatically and the overall ease of use. Sound quality and noise cancellation are both superb. You really get value for money from the package. Maono Wave T5 Wireless Microphone Combo costs €113 on Amazon reduced from €145 (at time of publication). You can also buy directly from Maono. Other options for wireless microphones include DJI Mic 2 which costs €259 from DJI.

Review: Wave T5 wireless lavalier microphone is a cost-effective and feature-rich system
The Maono Wave T5 wireless lavalier microphone is a compact and versatile audio solution tailored for content creators, vloggers, and mobile journalists. With a feature-rich design and competitive pricing, although missing some of the true high-end options, it offers a compelling alternative to higher-priced competitors. The microphone delivers 48 kHz/24-bit resolution with an 80dB signal-to-noise ratio and a maximum SPL of 120dB, which I found offered clear and detailed recordings suitable in as many environments asI could test it. It's equipped with AI-powered noise cancellation featuring 14 adjustable levels across three modes (weak, moderate and strong), allowing you to tailor the audio capture to their surroundings. You also have four sound coloration presets to choose from - vocal, magnetic, warm, and bright - and customize vocal tone and presence. Battery life is where the T5 really shines, each transmitter provides up to nine hours of use, with the included charging case extending total usage time to around 30 hours. Wireless range is also pretty impressive, using 2.4GHz digital frequency hopping technology to maintain a stable connection up to 300 meters (in the line of sight). The T5 includes three receiver types - USB-C, Lightning, and 3.5mm TRS - which makes it compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and cameras. Functions like 'click to mute' and 'hold to shoot' can be activated via the Maono Link app for real-time monitoring and adjustments. There's a lot to like about the T5 and you get a comprehensive accessory bundle included lanyards, carrying pouch and hard-shell case, but there are a couple of shortcomings. There is no onboard storage for standalone recording, while it lacks advanced features like safety track recording found in some rivals. However, the T5 stands out as a cost-effective and feature-rich wireless lavalier microphone system. Its combination of high-quality audio, extensive compatibility, and user-friendly design makes it a worthy choice for creators seeking professional results without too hefty a price tag. What users say "The Maono Wave T5 Wireless Lavalier Microphone stands out as a versatile and high-performing audio solution tailored for content creators, videographers, podcasters, and professionals seeking studio-quality sound in a compact form factor." "I like that the recorders are also fairly small and non-invasive. They stay on okay and don't fall off easily when knocked. Good that it works with both Samsung and Apple as the majority I have reviewed before only work on iPhone. Feels solid quality. Only comment is it's a bit pricy for a recorder, but high quality overall."
