More info Aer Lingus has added a brand new country to its lineup with flights to Cancun in Mexico beginning in early 2026. The route will launch on January 6 with flights available to book now on the Aer Lingus website. It's a perfect destination for those looking to escape the colder months. Flights will go three times weekly until April 29 2026 on the airline's A330-300 aircraft. The long haul flight offers a wide range of family-friendly hotels and resorts catering to all price points, and is already a hit with honeymooners. Aer Lingus Chief Executive Officer Lynne Embleton said: 'Our research highlights a strong appetite amongst customers for new travel experiences, particularly seasonal destinations beyond the peak summer period. Quintana Roo State Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa said: 'Quintana Roo, the Mexican Caribbean, welcomes and celebrates the first direct Dublin – Cancun flight from Aer Lingus. We will work together with our partner Aer Lingus to make this a successful operation!' Ambassador of Mexico to Ireland Carolina Zaragoza Flores said: 'In a landmark moment coinciding with the significant 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Ireland, the Embassy of Mexico warmly welcomes the commencement of direct flights connecting our two nations. This important development, fuelled by a growing bilateral trade relationship that sees Mexico as Ireland's top trading partner in Latin America and Ireland as Mexico's sixth-largest trade partner within the European Union, will undoubtedly foster even stronger economic ties, and lead toward a strategic partnership." Aer Lingus announces new direct flights from Dublin Airport to Mexico
The new route will operate three times weekly on the airline's wide-body A330-300 aircraft, providing a direct service to the Mexican Caribbean. The winter route will operate from January 6 to April 29, with fares from €291 each-way. Tui currently operates a summer charter service from Dublin Airport to Mexico, but there are no other airlines offering direct connections. Cancún is a sun holiday hotspot on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula famed for its resorts, beaches and good weather. It is within reach of archaeological sites like Chichén Itzá and Tulum (around a 2.5 and two hour drive, respectively). 'Our research highlights a strong appetite amongst customers for new travel experiences, particularly seasonal destinations beyond the peak summer period,' said Lynne Embleton, Aer Lingus's Chief Executive Officer. The region is also popular for honeymoons, as part of twin- or multi--centre trips with US destinations or cruises, and for its cuisine. The announcement follows the debut of new Aer Lingus routes to Nashville and Indianapolis in the US, and comes during the airline's busiest ever transatlantic schedule. It will also allow travellers from Europe and the UK to connect in Dublin to for onward flights to and from Cancún. 'Quintana Roo, the Mexican Caribbean, welcomes and celebrates the first direct Dublin to Cancun flight from Aer Lingus,' said Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, adding that it would work with the airline to make the route a success. The Embassy of Mexico in Ireland welcomed the news as coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Carolina Zaragoza Flores, Ambassador of Mexico to Ireland, said that Mexico is Ireland's top trading partner in Latin America, with Ireland Mexico's sixth-largest trade partner within the EU. 'By facilitating increased tourism, business opportunities, and cultural exchange, this direct air link will further enrich the deep and enduring friendship we celebrate this year.'
