Man seriously injured in stabbing at Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre

Ottawa paramedics say a man in his 50s suffered serious injuries in a stabbing at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre this week. Spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said paramedics were called to the Royal at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Staff at the Royal performed first aid on the victim before paramedics arrived to prevent life-threatening blood loss, he said. The man was stabilized by paramedics and taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. A spokesperson for the Royal confirmed no staff were injured. 'In keeping with our obligations to protect privacy and confidentiality, no details will be shared. The Royal is cooperating fully with authorities and remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all patients, staff, and visitors,' a statement said.
