Mexico's Pemex plans to export less crude oil as new refinery starts up, official says
MEXICO CITY, May 12 (Reuters) - The trading arm of Mexico's state company Pemex, PMI, is anticipating a reduction in crude oil exports this year as more will be sent to local refineries, especially the new Olmeca refinery, a company director said on Monday. Once the country's newest refinery is fully operational and able to process 340,000 barrels per day (bpd), it will receive about 100,000 bpd of crude oil, Margarita Perez, the head of PMI, said at an event. This would lift local processing to 1.2 million bpd, she added, leaving about 400,000 bpd for export. "We have exported (diesel) from the Dos Bocas refinery, as production is starting up," Perez said, without giving details on volumes. Reuters reported in April that two tankers, opens new tab with ultra-low sulfur diesel, originally produced from crude oil in the Madero refinery but reprocessed in the Olmeca refinery, had been exported because of a lack of infrastructure.

Mexico's Pemex looks to diversify market amid Trump tariff threats
MEXICO CITY, March 25 (Reuters) - Mexican state energy company Pemex is actively looking to diversify its market for both motor fuel imports and crude oil exports, the head of its international trading unit PMI said on Tuesday. "If new opportunities in other markets open, we'll pursue them and are pursuing them," PMI Chief Executive Officer Margarita Perez said during a panel discussion in the Mexican Senate. Perez said that the importance of having a diversification strategy was highlighted when U.S. President Donald Trump a day earlier threatened tariffs on countries buying oil from Venezuela. Trump on Monday published an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on trade with countries buying the South American nation's oil. "Not having certainty in the market creates a lot of volatility," Perez said.

CERAWEEK Mexico to keep diverting heavy oil away from Gulf as refining ramps up, Pemex's PMI says
HOUSTON, March 11 (Reuters) - Mexico's state-run Pemex will continue to divert barrels of heavy crude away from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico as its new Olmeca refinery ramps up output to reach full capacity in the coming year, the head of the company's trading arm PMI, Margarita Perez, said on Tuesday. Perez spoke at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, where some oil companies operating in the country, including Harbour Energy (HBR.L), opens new tab, showed optimism about fresh energy contracts to be offered soon for partnering with Pemex. The contracts will bring fresh investment to the country, the Vice President of Harbour, Gustavo Baquero, said at the conference.
