Create Account Toronto Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a residence in the Dovercourt Rod.-Geary Ave. area at 2:38 a.m. Cops said that when they arrived at the home, they found a man suffering from a stab wound and began life-saving measures. Police said the victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and on Feb. 24 he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Paulo Mota, 38, of Toronto. His death marks Toronto's fourth homicide of 2025. On Sunday, Maria Rivero was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Last Friday around 6:45 p.m., two youths were playing in the forested area of Ken Sturgeon Park, in the area of Lockwood Circle and Damascus Court when they were allegedly confronted by a male suspect with his pants down committing an indecent act. Woman, 44, charged with murder in stabbing death of Toronto man

A stabbing in Toronto's west end has left one man with critical injuries, police say. A 44-year-old Toronto woman has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Toronto's west end back in February. Toronto police say the stabbing occurred in the area of Dovercourt Road and Geary Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 21. A man, later identified as 38-year-old Toronto resident Paulo Mota, was transported to hospital but died of his injuries days later. On Sunday, police said, 44-year-old Maria Rivero was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in Mota's death. Police have not said if the victim and suspect were known to each other prior to the homicide.
