The Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) and Marian University Partner to Promote Bone Health in Indiana

ARLINGTON, Va., May 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Osteoporosis, a disease that causes bones to become weak and more likely to fracture, affects approximately 10 million Americans, with another 44 million at risk due to low bone density. Yet many individuals remain unaware that they have the disease until they break a bone. In fact, about one in two women and up to one in four men over the age of 50 will break a bone in their lifetime due to osteoporosis. Marian University and the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) are teaming up to bring greater awareness to osteoporosis. Their partnership focuses on helping individuals understand the risks, learn ways to prevent bone loss, and recognize the importance of early diagnosis. They are also working to spread awareness in communities throughout Indiana, especially in underserved areas where access to bone health education and resources may be limited. "Improving bone health across the lifespan starts with education," said Kathleen Shoemaker, BHOF Board Chair. "We are proud to partner with Marian University to ensure more people, especially those in underserved communities, have access to the knowledge and tools they need to prevent fractures and maintain strong bones for life." Through this collaboration, Marian University and BHOF are committed to providing preventive tips, management strategies, and emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong, healthy bones at every stage of life. Educational initiatives will include seminars, health fairs, workshops, and digital outreach, all designed to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to protect themselves. The effort also highlights the importance of regular bone density screenings, proper nutrition—including adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D—and weight-bearing exercises, all of which are crucial in managing and preventing osteoporosis. "This partnership reflects our deep commitment to community health and proactive education," said Dr. Todd Logan, Scholar-in-Residence for Aging & Society at Marian University. "By working with BHOF, we can help deliver vital bone health resources to more Hoosiers, especially in communities where access to care and education has been limited." About the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation Established in 1984, the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation is the nation's leading health organization dedicated to promoting strong bones for life, preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, and reducing human suffering through programs of awareness, education, advocacy, and research. Wisconsin's most famous service dog immortalized in bronze at the Veterans Home at King

KING, Wis. (WFRV) – A beloved four-legged veteran received a hero's welcome Friday as the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King unveiled a statue honoring Brownie the War Dog — a World War II service dog who later found a new mission comforting veterans on the very grounds where he's now memorialized. The event, called Brownie's Bark in the Park, drew crowds of veterans, families and dog lovers for an afternoon of celebration. Highlights included a puppy parade, costume contest and activities for all ages. Marian University professor honored for creative teaching, student earns leadership award At the heart of it all was the statue unveiling — a permanent tribute to a dog whose service spanned both the battlefield and the home front. Kelly Nelson, author of Brownie the War Dog, led the charge to bring Brownie's story to the public and fund the statue project. 'Immediately, I was struck by just the bravery of the dog, the bravery of the young boy who donated him,' Nelson said. 'There are so many things that I think are heartfelt and heartwarming about the story.' Brownie was donated to the war effort by Oren Kendley, a Waupaca boy who was just 10 years old at the time. The dog was trained as a sensory scout and shipped to the Pacific Theater during World War II. 'Brownie was donated by Oren Kendley when he was ten years old — eleven when Brownie was shipped off to the Pacific Theater — and he was a sensory dog,' Nelson said. Brownie suffered an injury to the eye during his service, which required a glass eye substitution. After Brownie was injured, he returned to Wisconsin. Soon after, his family began bringing him to the Veterans Home at King, where he quickly became a familiar and comforting presence among residents. 'I thought Brownie deserves to be recognized,' said Nelson. 'So I started reaching out to businesses, individuals who are dog lovers, who believed in the project and we were able to raise enough money and have the statue created.' The bronze statue now stands as a symbol of Brownie's loyalty and service — both in war and in peace — and honors the profound impact animals can have on the lives of veterans. 'The profound bond that animals have with humans — and giving every dog their day — I hope this is Brownie's day,' Nelson said. Chilton Area Community Foundation awards more than $80K in grants to local nonprofits Organizers say they hope Brownie's story continues to inspire future generations and are considering making Bark in the Park an annual tradition. Brownie was laid to rest in 1949 with full military honors at the Veterans Home at King. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Bryson DeChambeau's Rumored Girlfriend Lilia Schneider Posts Stunning Photos

Golfer Bryson DeChambeau has been linked to Lilia Schneider, a college golfer who fills her Instagram page with stunning glamour photos. However, as DeChambeau competes in the Masters, it's not clear whether Schneider remains his girlfriend. That hasn't stopped fans from checking out Schneider's Instagram page, where she has earned more than 55,000 followers with a series of head-turning photos. In 2022, Outkick reported that confirmation of a relationship between Schneider and DeChambeau had come from DeChambeau's ex-girlfriend, another college golfer named Hunter Nugent. According to Outkick, DeChambeau was photographed riding in a golf cart with Schneider at a LIV Golf event in Chicago, and Nugent cleared up false reports that she was the woman at his side. The Getty Images caption on the photo from the LIV event in 2022 still says Nugent is the woman at DeChambeau's side in it, but Nugent told Outkick it was Schneider. On March 20, 2025, Schneider posted a bikini shot and wrote, "Suit up." Fans expressed amazement at the photo, with one writing, "I was not prepared for this masterpiece today." Schneider was on the 2024-25 roster for the Marian University women's golf team, according to the university website, which said she was a senior at that time. The website refers to her as "Lili Schneider." It gives her hometown as Belmont, MI. The year before, she "did not compete as a junior recovering from a season-ending surgery ... Named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete," the university website says. "Saw action in three events as a sophomore ... Began the year shooting an 95+94+83=272 to tie for 45th at the Music City Invite ... Carded a total 313 (103+107+103) at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff ... Shot a 214 (100+114) at the Midway Eagle Invitational for a 49th place finish," the university continued.
