Man opens fire at his cousin with pistol near Madurai
In a petty quarrel over property dispute, a Central Armed Police Force man K. Marichamy, 40, opened fire at his cousin M. Udhayakumar, 40, at Paraikulam near Tirumangalam on Sunday.
The injured, who suffered one round of bullet from the licensed pistol of Marichamy, has been admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital.
The police said that Marichamy, who was working with Sashastra Seema Bal, had not returned for duty after COVID and was involved in real estate.
The families of two brothers had a dispute over sharing a 30 cents of land. Udhayakumar, who is grandson of one of the brothers, had been quarrelling with the grandsons of other brother for some time.
However, he had a grudge that only he was fighting for the right of the legal heirs of his grandfather while others were not showing any interest.
Against this backdrop, he used to pick on Marichamy to fight with the grandsons of the other brother.
When one such quarrel turned into worse, Marichamy pulled out his licensed pistol and fired at Udhayakumar. While one bullet missed the target, the other one pierced his stomach.
The Koodakoil police have arrested Marichamy.
