Celebrate Star Wars Day with an authentic Scout Trooper helmet
Mind out for trees and angry teddy bears (Hasbro) Today is international Star Wars Day and Hasbro has a variety of new merch to celebrate the fact, include high-end cosplay gear and action figures. Most franchises get their own 'day' now, usually based around some sort of pun or in-joke. Mario Day is on 10th March (MAR 10), Alien Day is on 26th April (from the planet LV-426), and Star Wars is on 4th May, because May the 4th be with you. Until recently, May was also traditionally the month new Star Wars movies were released and this year's big new item from Hasbro is a scout trooper helmet, from their high-end Black Series line of action figures and accessories. Scout troopers, also known as biker scouts, were first introduced in 1983's Return of the Jedi, where they were shown riding speeder bikes and getting beaten up by Ewoks. They've featured in plenty of other shows, video games, and other media since then… in part because they have a really cool looking helmet. As well as looking the part, including the ability to fold the front face of the helmet up, the helmet also has a voice distorter built-in, so that if you talk with it on you'll get that sort of crackly, electronic effect that they have in the movies. It looks great and at £104.99 from Hasbro Pulse it's not actually as outrageously expensive as you might expect, especially given it makes a good display item, even if you don't want to wear it about town all that often. The original helmet was designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, who worked on many of the most iconic Star Wars costumes, and rather than being an in-universe detail the grey design on the bottom left-hand corner of the visor is actually a stylised version of his initials. The Star Wars Visions episode was black and white, so the toys are too (Hasbro) There's already a lot more helmets in the Black Series, for roughly the same price, including Darth Vader (obviously), a Death Trooper (from Rogue One), and several taken from The Mandalorian TV show – such as Mando himself, The Armorer, Bo-Katan, Axe Woves, and a Death Watch member. Also part of the range is a variety of lightsabers, that cost upwards of £250, and a huge selection of action figures. The Ronin & R5-D56 is a new one, based on the first season of the Star Wars Vision series on Disney+, while another good double pack, that's currently on pre-order for the Vintage Collection, is the Bantha & Tusken Raider. Other new ones include everything from Han Solo and Chewbacca, from the first Star Wars movie, to pre-orders for figures inspired by the brand new season 2 of Andor. There's also a bunch of figures based on the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor video game and, as a more nostalgic video game choice, Dash Rendar from Shadows Of The Empire. Bindi Irwin's Daughter Grace Warrior Is the Sleepiest Cuddle Bug in Dreamy Beach Photo
The infamous Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's granddaughter doesn't need to hunt down any Zs. No, Bindi Irwin's 3-year-old daughter Grace Warrior is actually a napping pro. At least that's what it looks like from Terri Irwin's latest photo. Grace's grandma — or should we say her 'Bunny' (IYKYK) — caught the sweetest shot of Bindi Irwin and Grace sitting on the beach. Grace is on her mom's lap with her head resting on her shoulder. Her arm is wrapped tightly around her mom who has her eyes closed in bliss. Meanwhile, Grace's eyes are closed because she is out. The sleepy toddler must have had too much fun playing with her family on the beach. Bindi quickly commented on her mom's post, writing, 'So grateful for these moments. ❤️' Followers were touched by the 'precious' picture. 'Nothing like having a moment to sit and hold your little one when they've fallen asleep on you,' one person wrote. 'The sweet contentment on your face brings back so many moments when mine were tiny kiddos💜' Others knew exactly why Grace was able to fall asleep at the beach: 'Everything is safe and warm in a Mama's arms ❤️❤️ such a beautiful moment and family,' one person wrote. Her mom isn't the only person little Grace can't stop cuddling. Earlier this year, the little girl couldn't stop hugging the kangaroos at the Australia Zoo. Just like with her mom, she rested her head on a kangaroo. And though she didn't fully fall asleep (which is probably for the best), it was still a case of cuteness overload. In 2023, Bindi spoke to SheKnows about how she treasures family time and does her best to be 'completely present.' 'Because sometimes we forget to do that because life is such a whirlwind,' she said. 'So if you can find that time to be utterly present with your family it really helps feed your soul.' Whether it's watching her daughter cuddle with a kangaroo, being the one to snuggle with her on the beach, or anything in between, Bindi knows just how truly invaluable those moments are. 'It's just good for your heart,' she continued. Celebrate Mario Day with fun events around the Shreveport-Bossier area
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Since 2016, Nintendo has officially recognized March 10 as 'Mario Day' being that the presentation of 'MAR 10' resembles the word 'Mario.' More Entertainment News Nintendo's iconic mascot got his start in 1981's 'Donkey Kong' arcade game as the player character known simply as 'Jumpman' at the time. Since then, the Mario franchise has become the bestselling video game franchise of all time, broke the record for highest grossing film based on a video game, and has received its own themed area at Universal Studios. It's safe to say that Mario is doing pretty well after all these years as his popularity continues to grow. So too does the annual celebration of the character and its history. Fan events, sales on Mario-themed products, or playing one of the hundreds of Mario video games with friends tend to be staples of Mario Day. This year, the Shreveport-Bossier area is celebrating with local events for fans of all ages. The Shreve Memorial Library will host an interactive Mario celebration with crafts and games today from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at their Atkins Branch, 3704 Greenwood Road in Shreveport. Game Warriors Gamer Haven is hosting a Mario Day Party that will feature snacks and drinks, Mario-themed games and prizes, photo ops with Mario characters, and classic Super Mario games that guests can play together from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Game Warriors Gamer Haven, 814 Constable St in Minden. 'Whether you're a classic NES Mario fan or love racing in Mario Kart, this is a night you don't want to miss!' said Game Warriors Gamer Haven in a post. Lego's New Mario Set Is The Best One Yet
Mamma mia, Mario, your new Mario Kart Lego set looks wonderful! And the large set, which was just officially revealed by Lego after a few leaks, might just be the best Nintendo-themed build yet! On March 10, aka Mario Day (because Mar 10 looks like Mario, get it?), Nintendo and Lego revealed set #72037, Mario Kart, the next big collaboration between the two companies. The large Lego kit is priced at $170 and is made up of over 1,900 pieces. The new build recreates Mario in a go kart and features posable arms. You can pre-order the set starting today and it will be available to buy on May 15. The decorative set is intended for adults and older builders. And it's pretty dang big, too. According to Lego's website, the Mario Kart set is 8.5 inches high, 12.5 inches long and 7.5 inches wide! You are going to need some space to display this bad boy and all his wonderful details, including what appears to be printed face features and a bulbous nose. Seriously, I'm shocked at how perfectly Lego has captured Mario's face, body, and proportions. Lego bricks can make many things, but human-like figures tend to be the trickiest and yet, Mario looks amazing in this new set. In fact, because of how awesome Mario looks as a big brick-built Lego character, I'm just dreaming of a video game that looks like this. It makes me wish Nintendo and Lego would make the plunge and greenlight a Lego Mario video game. Even Bowser looks great as a brick-built character, as seen in his 2022 set. So come on Nintendo. Walmart and Target now sell Nintendo's Alarmo in celebration of Mario Day
Last month, Nintendo of America opened up purchases of its game-themed alarm clock, Alarmo, to the public in the US so anyone could get one — with or without a Switch Online membership. It was originally only available direct from Nintendo, but now in celebration of Mario Day, the bright red nightstand companion can also be purchased from Walmart and Target. The charming alarm clock comes with a handful of built-in themes to choose from at the start — Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4 and Ring Fit Adventure — and Nintendo says others, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, will be available for free down the line. Alarmo first went on sale back in October, but only for Nintendo Switch Online members. That changed in February, when the company announced, 'Nintendo Sound Clock: #Alarmo is now available on My Nintendo store, no Nintendo Switch Online membership required.' Alarmo can wake you up and put you to sleep with sounds and animations from your chosen title, and it has a motion sensor for sleep tracking (though Engadget's review found the latter to be pretty useless). There's an undeniable charm to it all; the characters will even celebrate when you finally drag yourself out of bed. The downside is that it costs $100. Still, I can't say the idea of having a troupe of Pikmin greet me first thing every morning isn't extremely tempting.
