Former East Bengal coach joins Spanish national team ahead of Women's Euro 2025
Former East Bengal assistant coach, Mario Rivera has joined the Spanish national team ahead of the Women's European Championships which is set to be held in Switzerland July 2 to 27.
Rivera has joined the Spanish women's team as a part of the coaching staff of the World Cup holder which also won the Women's Nations League in 2024.
Rivera, who coached East Bengal twice, first came to the red and yellow as an assistant coach during the time of Alejandro Menendez Garcia in 2018. His main responsibility during that time was that of tactical analyst. At that time, he was one of the key players as East Bengal finished 2nd in the I-League
Later, on 1 January 2022, Rivera was again appointed as the head coach of East Bengal in Indian Super League, succeeding Manolo Diaz.
The Spanish national team posted a video on social media where the entire contingent went to visit the royal family. Rivera is seen in the video along with the rest of the squad.

Before accepting the Spanish team role, the 47-year-old was serving as the assistant coach of Al Nassr team in Libya.
