Man charged with murder of woman, 26, in Croydon
A man has been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old woman in south London. Simon Hinsta Ghebremedhin, 33, of Streatham in south London is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said. Marjama Osman was declared dead at the scene from a single stab wound on Frith Road, Croydon just after 09:00 BST on Saturday. Her family have been told and are being supported by specialist officers, the force added. Mr Ghebremedhin has also been charged with possession of a class B drug. Woman fatally stabbed in Croydon named as Marjama Osman
A woman who was fatally stabbed in south London has been named as Marjama were called to Frith Road, Croydon, just after 09:00 BST on Saturday after two reports of a stabbing, the Metropolitan Police 26-year-old was found dead at the scene. Formal identification has not taken place but her family has been men, aged 32 and 33, arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail pending further enquiries, the force added. Det Ch Insp Dave Whellams, who is leading the Met's investigation, said: "We appreciate that this tragic incident has caused real concern within the community in Croydon."Our priority at the moment is to continue gathering the evidence we need to hold whoever is responsible for Marjama's death to account, whilst supporting her family at this difficult time."He said the current understanding is that Ms Osman was "assaulted inside an address on Frith Road before going into the street where she collapsed".Det Ch Insp Whellams has encouraged anyone with information to come forward."We appreciate that there is speculation within the local community around Marjama's death," he added."These conversations within the community could lead us to getting the justice Marjama deserves."
