Man arrested after running from police holding infant
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is now in jail on a $200 bond after police say he tried to run away from them with an infant in his arms during a traffic stop on Tuesday.
Markecio Graham, 29, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance to wit: Marijuana, Reckless Driving, Intentionally Evading Arrest in an Automobile, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Aggravated Child Abuse – Endangerment, Possession of/Taking Contraband into a Penal Facility, and Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Manufacture/Deliver/Sell.

Around 5:15 p.m., officers say they saw a damaged Toyota Avalon that was a vehicle of interest in a recent homicide in the Getwell Road and Elliston Road area.
When they attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over. A police chase was then initiated.
During the pursuit, police say the driver threw a weapon out of the vehicle, which they later recovered.
The driver then stopped when it hit a fence in the 1900 block of Ezell and got out and ran with an infant in his arms.

After a brief chase, police say they took the driver into custody without incident. The infant was not injured.
The suspect was identified as Markecio Graham at that time. Officers say he was found with marijuana in his pocket when he was arrested and in possession of cocaine when he was booked into jail.
Police say Graham also had warrants for cruelty to animals, violation of spray/neuter ordinance, adequate food, water, shelter, care conditions, failure to have dog tag on dog, failure to obtain dog license, concealing dog with rabies, maintenance requirements animals, violation of financial law, no driver license, and reckless driving.

In November 2023, police say a malnourished dog was found apparently feeding on the decomposing body of another at Graham's home.
Markecio Graham is due back in court Thursday morning.
