Scranton police: Man exposes himself to hospital personnel, injures cops during treatment for intoxication
SCRANTON — A New Jersey man taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center for treatment after a night of overindulging in alcohol exposed himself to medical personnel and injured two officers, police said.
Marquise Cadet, 31, of 612 E. Fifth St, Lakewood, allegedly had a receipt in his pocket likely reflecting a night of drinking. The receipt from the Penalty Box included charges for 15 single shots of Hennessy brandy, eight double shots of Hennessy, two shots of Casamigos tequila and several beers, police said.
According to the criminal complaint:
Cadet was transported to the hospital at about 1 a.m. Feb. 16 for 'extreme intoxication.' As he was being treated, he punched an X-ray machine, causing unknown damage.
When Cadet left his hospital room, city police and hospital security took him back to the room, but he refused to enter.
He then exposed himself to a female staff member and directed offensive comments to her, police said.
Cadet tried to run out of the hospital room multiple times and resisted officers attempting to get him back to his bed. Officers transported Cadet to a transport wagon in a wheelchair because he would not cooperate.
As police attempted to put Cadet into the police vehicle, he kicked at them, police said.
During the incident, Patrolman Matthew Conforti suffered an injury to his right leg and Patrolman Michael Jonas suffered an injury to his left hand, which caused it to be numb.
Cadet is charged with aggravated assault, indecent exposure, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
He remains at Lackawanna County Prison for inability to post $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 26 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
