EXCLUSIVE Married At First Sight's Carina Mirabile reveals which bride slid into her fashion label's DMs trying to get freebies while filming dating show
Carina Mirabile has lifted the lid on an unexpected behind-the-scenes moment from Married At First Sight 2025. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the 31-year-old digital marketing manager, who runs fashion label, MIRAB, revealed that one of the brides slid into her DMs with a rather cheeky request for free clothes. When pressed to reveal which bride it was, Carina confirmed that it was none other than Jacqui Burfoot, who messaged her on Instagram during the early days of filming. The message came as a surprise to Carina, who admitted she initially had to double-check it was real. Carina went on to explain that Jacqui's message came just a few weeks into the filming process. 'She said, "Hi, I am one of the MAFS brides of 2025. I love your pieces. Would love to get some clothes to wear on the show."' At first, Carina thought the request might be a joke. 'I actually screenshot it and was like, is this for real?' she admitted. 'We had only just spoken about it. I remember one commitment ceremony, we were in the lift — Jacqui, Rhi, and myself with our producers. 'A lot of the weeks, we would go to the commitment ceremony together in one car, the three of us girls, and Veronica as well.' During that ride, Carina recalled how Jacqui had praised her sense of style, encouraging her to launch a clothing line. 'Jacqui said to me, 'Carina, you really need to start a clothing label or something because your style is insane. You have the eye,' Carina shared. 'Rhi chimed in and said, 'Oh, she actually has one.' And I was like, 'Yeah, I've got one, I just don't tell anyone because that's not my identity in this experiment. I came here for the right reasons, and I'm not gonna be boasting about that. It's just not me.' After that conversation, Carina and Jacqui began discussing business ideas. 'I learned about Jacqui's business idea. I was like, "Do you have Canva? Have you created the logo? Do you have Shopify?"' Carina explained. 'I gave her a lot of ideas, like platforms to use. I told her, "Don't use WooCommerce, use Shopify. Shopify's the easiest thing to do."' Although Carina didn't directly help with the execution of Jacqui's business, she was more than willing to offer guidance. 'She said she bought all her samples and just needed to photograph them. It was great to have those conversations. I'm always open to helping people around me,' Carina added. 'I'm not gonna be a gatekeeper. I want everyone to win, especially those around me.' It comes after Daily Mail Australia revealed a wider controversy surrounding Jacqui's alleged attempts to score free clothing from Australian brands during filming. In text messages obtained by New Idea, Jacqui allegedly messaged multiple brands saying, 'Hi there! I'm one of the MAFS 2025 brides. Just wondering whether you'd be interested in gifting any pieces for me to wear and showcase on the show and tag & create around during airing next year on Instagram / TikTok? The show is international and seen by millions of viewers! This is me! Let me know & I'll be happy to send my address and/or preferences. I'm a size 8 xx.' Sources have since revealed that Jacqui spent much of her downtime during filming online shopping and messaging Australian brands. 'That's literally all she'd be doing in the apartment most days – constantly online shopping, scouring for Aussie brands to score free outfits, and she was so proud of herself for doing it,' an insider told Daily Mail Australia. 'She literally filled the entire spare bedroom and its closets with clothing deliveries, promising she'd be a huge star and promote them on the show.' One production insider went as far as to claim that when it came time to move out, Jacqui had 25 bags worth of clothing transported by her groom, Ryan Donnelly, in a large Uber. 'It was ridiculous,' they added. 'Worth over $5k easily, I'd estimate in total. All the time she'd bring her laptop over and ask for Ryan's opinion on outfits before requesting them from the brands.' The insider also alleged that Jacqui shared a list of 'willing' brands with fellow brides, including Awhina Rutene, in an effort to help them score free items as well. 'She had that f***ing spreadsheet of willing brands she sent to Awhina and the other brides to also score. Those poor little companies who were promised exposure with her 'golden' edit,' the source said. However, Jacqui has since addressed the claims, taking to social media to clarify that MAFS cast members are required to source their own outfits for events like dinner parties and commitment ceremonies. 'Yes, almost all the cast collab with small local brands and business owners to help dress ourselves for the show!' Jacqui explained in an Instagram post. 'We are expected to provide three of our own outfit options for every dinner party/commitment ceremony, and it should be colourful.' Jacqui also acknowledged the generosity of rental dress companies and hair salons that helped the cast with styling during filming. She further explained that she relied on businesses like Only Dress Hire and Base Hair Extensions for assistance, adding that in return, the cast provided exposure for their brands. Despite the controversy, Jacqui's response suggests she views these brand collaborations as a necessary part of the show's styling requirements, rather than an opportunistic attempt to secure free clothing, as some sources have alleged.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the couple confirmed they are still going strong. 'We got married on the 25th of July last year, so July coming up,' Rhi revealed. 'It's crazy to think it would be our one-year anniversary since walking down the aisle.' Jeff chimed in, 'Yeah, we are feeling great. Can't believe it's all done and dusted. It's a little bit sad to be honest.' Reflecting on their reunion dinner party, the couple said they weren't nervous to return - rather, they found it entertaining to see the other cast members unload. 'We obviously heard about the Jacqui and Clint situation, so we weren't shocked about that at all,' Rhi said, before admitting with a laugh, 'I was going around spreading it.' The reunion episode also featured a milestone moment for the couple, with Jeff telling Rhi he loved her for the first time on camera. 'It was genuine,' Rhi said. 'That was the first time that we had said, 'I love you.' 'That's who I was throughout the experiment. Obviously, sometimes it doesn't get shown, but every time I saw something I didn't agree with, I did speak up,' he explained. The couple have been rumoured to appear on The Block, but say nothing is confirmed - yet. 'There's been all this chat about us going on The Block,' Rhi said. 'Everyone this morning has asked us, 'Is that really happening?' We're like… we have no idea. But we hope so.' For now, their focus is on enjoying life and planning their next step - possibly moving in together. Asked to reveal the quirkiest thing they've learned about one another, Jeff joked, 'Rhi's a bit of a nerd.' When asked about their intimacy, Rhi candidly said: 'Our sex life was actually great when we met a year and a half ago. That was never the issue. I think timing was the issue… but no, this time around, it's better.' 'We got married on the 25th of July last year, so July coming up,' Rhi revealed. 'It's crazy to think it would be our one-year anniversary since walking down the aisle' The couple say they're proud to be one of the experiment's only genuine success stories—and they had some advice for future participants. 'Be yourself from the get-go. Don't be afraid to be your most authentic, genuine self,' Rhi said. 'You can't pretend to be someone you're not,' Jeff added. 'That's the reason you would've gotten on the show in the first place.' When asked if he ever had to propose, Jeff replied: 'I probably wouldn't do it at a public event with heaps of randoms. 'I'd just do it with some close friends and family around… it'd be really authentic and a special moment.' Looks like MAFS may have actually found its fairytale ending after all.

MAFS' Jacqui and Clint spill on their first impressions of each other
Married At First Sight 2025's Jacqui and Clint sat down with Yahoo Lifestyle to chat all about their recent engagement and life after the show. What were the first impressions of each other in the experiment? Being an intruder going into the show, my audition was still happening when the original couples were actually already married. So I saw a few spoilers of who were the brides and grooms were, and I did look through them and right, even then, Jackie caught my attention. And I, I, obviously I was going to get married to someone else that I didn't know, so I was fully focused on my relationship in the experiment, but to be honest, when I saw the lineup, Before I went in there, that was when Jackie first got my attention for sure. And then when you actually meet at the first dinner party or anything like that, I mean Jackie, what did you think? I got really good vibes when I first met Clint. It was like, this guy's cool. Like I was surrounded by people who are very extra and extroverted and, um, outspoken, and Clint came into the experiment like modest, humble, like down to earth, and had a very cool, collected, calm. Horror about him. I actually said that at the dinner party. I was like, Clint seems like the kind of guy I'd want to be friends with. Like I said it, and I said it on Boxy, and I was surprised they didn't play it back. Um, but I just was like, he's just, and he was into e-commerce, which is what I was into. I was like, this guy would be awesome to be friends with. Like, I'm sure that he's the first cast member that I actually could see myself hanging out with in the real world and like, talking about business or investment or like, like, just hanging out as mates. Um, But then, of course, he was, I never thought I was good enough for Claton, if I'm being honest. Like he'd built and sold a business, so I was like looking up to him being like, wow, you've accomplished so much in like 10 years of professional golf. I was like, he is such an amazing, incredible human. Like I thought I thought you were such a good catch. I'm, yeah, but I haven't, I haven't even I haven't heard, like, I've just got started. I've, I've just got started on my career, and Clint has had like a career as a professional golfer and then built and sold a business and is like semi-retired. I was like, I. I haven't even started. I've like done uni and, you know, started my career, but I haven't succeeded in it. So I was like, there's no way he's gonna wanna be with me. And I just assumed, because Lauren is amazing as well, right? Like, Lauren, in terms of what she's achieved, she's this business owner and got very high standards. So I was like, Oh yeah, like, Lauren seems like his kind of girl, and I just kind of sat there and I was like, Oh, well, I'll just work on my relationship. But, um, it was, it wasn't, yeah, and then it, yeah. So how humble she is. Everyone watching the show thinks she's no one's at her level, but when you get to know Jackie, it's like, she's so humble and down there. But yeah, then I was, yeah. And I was, I was still so nervous about that, even when, like, Clint invited me down to spend time with him. I was like, OK, like, Jackie, just keep it cool. Like, there's probably just gonna be friends, and then, um, but then it was too. And then we actually spent time together and I was like, absolutely perfect.

MAFS' Carina barely recognisable in throwback snap: 'Stunning'
From her unique headscarf and long braided ponytail to her cross pendant choker and dramatic oversized sleeves, Carina Mirabile is undeniably the fashion icon of Married At First Sight 2025. The digital marketing manager and aspiring TV presenter has a diploma in fashion design and textiles and is already tipped to become a fashion and beauty influencer once the show finishes airing. While Carina has been making plenty of bold decisions with her appearance on MAFS, perhaps none have been as daring as her hair transformation in 2014. Throwback photos on Instagram show the TV star looking barely recognisable with blonde hair on her 21st birthday. MAFS' Dave and Veronica respond to 'cheating' rumours: 'Didn't look good' She paired her lighter locks with a black patterned gown and simple make-up - a stark contrast to her striking looks on MAFS. Carina received plenty of compliments on her hair at the time, with her followers saying she looked 'amazing', 'so beautiful' and 'absolutely stunning'. One person even described her as the 'Kim K of Perth' because of how similar she looked to the reality TV mogul, who rocked a similar blonde hairstyle in 2014. Carina has regularly been compared to Kim Kardashian throughout this year's season of MAFS, with some people saying her mum also looked like Kris Jenner at her wedding because of their similar hairstyles. Carina even admitted during her audition tape that her mum is the 'Australian version of Kris Jenner' and her family is very similar to the Kardashians. 'I'm Kim. Kim or Kylie [Jenner], I don't mind,' she laughed. 'Just minus all the pennies.' Not only have Carina's MAFS outfits all been show-stopping, but they've also been very expensive. Her sequin crystal dress from the girls' night costs $322, her black dinner party gown costs $1263, and her three-piece red set was made custom for her by Perth-based luxury brand KHIRZAD. 2024 bride Eden Harper recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that most of the brides on MAFS use a dress hire company for their dinner party looks so they don't have to spend an outrageous amount of money on new clothes. 'When you go on MAFS you have to supply all of your own outfits and do all of your own hair and makeup unless you can source something for yourself,' she detailed. 'That's very expensive if you're going to nine dinner parties, seven commitment ceremonies, plus your day-to-day filming. 'The day-to-day filming I think's okay because it's just your normal clothes, but I definitely didn't own like, 14 gowns to wear to the dinner parties. And to buy them, I have expensive taste so it would have been a very expensive exercise.' Eden explained that the hire company lets participants wear the dresses at no cost in exchange for free promotion once the episode airs. They will also send out multiple different dresses for the producers to approve as the brides aren't allowed to wear the same style or colour to the dinner party. 'The hire lady is really good to all of the girls on MAFS. Sometimes she'll send out five dresses and then we'll just try them all on, send all the photos [to the producers for approval], and then we just wait until we're allowed to wear it,' she continued. MAFS' Jacqui on why she's speaking out against the show
Married At First Sight 2025 participant Jacqui sat down with Yahoo Lifestyle to chat all about the new season. I know a lot of past participants were scared to speak out like you have, or scared to launch a TikTok or do a separate Instagram and do all these Q&A's. Were you ever nervous about speaking out and what the repercussions could be? I know that there are laws in place to protect people and that if I spoke out against, um, ESA and Channel 9 that I was standing on my legal rights. And obviously, I'm, I'm a lawyer, I am educated and I know that just because I signed a contract, it doesn't mean they can breach human rights. Everything's been documented, I've got nothing to worry about. Um, I'm in a fortunate position where there were film crew documenting everything. 24/7. I did do everything I possibly could. I did seek psychological support and reported my um mental health to the team of professionals, and that's all been recorded. And, um, you know, it's not going to be a he said she said situation because there's actual footage of it.
