James Martin's two-ingredient breakfast after shedding three stone
James Martin's new book, 'James Martin's Spanish Adventure', showcases regional recipes inspired by his travels.
James Martin has revealed the go-to breakfast that helped him shed three stone, and it only requires two ingredients.
The celebrity chef and host of James Martin's Saturday Morning has recently undergone a notable weight loss, crediting his diet shift rather than any intense fitness regime. While he's embraced lighter eating habits, James still hasn't let go of one of his most beloved ingredients: butter, Devon Live reported.
Speaking to Hello!, the 52-year-old said his simple yet satisfying breakfast is 'grilled tomatoes on toast.' He added, 'It's very simple and very tasty. And the barbecued leeks with lardons and hazelnuts,' as reported by Gloucestershire Live.
James recently returned from a culinary journey through Spain, which inspired his latest cookbook James Martin's Spanish Adventure. He said the recipes featured were 'specifically created' from ingredients he discovered during his travels, with a focus on local flavour and simplicity that reflects his own food philosophy.
Though his cooking style may lean towards simplicity these days, his passion for food remains rooted in flavour and authenticity.
'I'm a farmer's kid, I like pure food, I like simple food and just love great ingredients,' he said. 'I like simple cooking, but also bringing out the flavour of the ingredients is more important than anything else.'
His healthier lifestyle hasn't come from strict gym sessions either. James has been upfront about skipping workouts entirely.
'I don't go,' he said of the gym, adding with a laugh, 'my fitness measure is whether I can get my a**e in and out of a car.' That kind of honest and humorous take has become part of his enduring charm.
Appearing on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, James also revealed that his love of motor racing was a driving force behind his weight loss.

'It comes down to the fact that I race cars, or I still try and race a few cars and I actually struggle to get out of them now,' he admitted.
'Getting in them, you kind of fall in them, but then you've got to get out of them and it just doesn't look very good.'
While many chefs have jumped on the healthy eating trend, James took a different path, and proudly so. 'I brought out a book on butter,' he laughed, referring to his 517-page homage titled Butter: Comforting, Delicious, Versatile, Over 130 Recipes Celebrating Butter.
He continues to champion the ingredient while balancing his diet in a way that suits him best.
James' culinary journey began in his childhood kitchen and was refined through years of work in France. Today, his career spans bestselling cookbooks, restaurants, bakeries, and regular appearances across the BBC and ITV.
