Man Utd tipped to sack Ruben Amorim and replace him with JURGEN KLOPP by former rival
MANCHESTER UNITED should axe Ruben Amorim and bring in JURGEN KLOPP, according to Martin Keown. The Red Devils boss, 40, is under pressure following a dismal campaign in which United finished 15th in the Premier League and scored just 44 goals. 3 3 3 Losing the Europa League final stole any chance of a bright finish to the season, with there to be no European football to speak of at Old Trafford in 2025-26. And former Arsenal star Keown, 58, a former fierce rival of Man Utd following his infamous clash with Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2003, has suggested Liverpool legend Klopp to turn things around at his former foes. Speaking on talkSPORT, Keown said: "After so many losses, I'm still concerned that maybe this isn't the right manager for Manchester United. "It's going to be a very interesting start to next season for them. "But they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club. "I'm not trying to sensationalise. I believe he could do an incredible job there... "And I believe they need somebody with more experience than the current manager." When asked to confirm his thought by his co-pundits, Keown snapped: "Why not? He's done a rebuilding job before." Klopp, 57, left Liverpool at the end of last season and appeared to rule out a return to club management. Instead, the German took the role of head of global soccer for Red Bull GmbH in January 2025. Arne Slot shows his class as he leads Anfield in chant about Jurgen Klopp after sealing 20th title for Liverpool The former Borussia Dortmund chief spent nine years at Liverpool, in which time he developed a reputation for being one of the best managers on the planet. Klopp was the manager to finally break Liverpool 's Premier League title drought, in the 2019-20 season and also won the Champions League in 2018-19. As well as reaching two further Champions League finals in that time, Klopp helped Liverpool win one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Community Shield, the Club World Cup and Super Cup. But since leaving, replacement Arne Slot won the Premier League on his first attempt, in what was meant to be a rebuild year. Man Utd are expected to stand by Amorim this summer, despite a shambolic season. However, the club are not expected to be able to buy any new players until they sell, with a number of players - such as Antony and Jadon Sancho - expected to leave. Bruno Fernandes could also leave, with Al-Hilal set to offer him a mega-money deal, in a massive blow to United. The Red Devils have already missed out on top striker target Liam Delap this summer, with the Ipswich star set to join Chelsea. They're now believed to be turning to Al-Hilal's former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic to solve their goalscoring woes.

Martin Keown names the Man Utd who 'won't turn up' for Europa League final
Manchester United will lose the Europa League final against Tottenham as their star player 'won't turn up on the night'. That is Martin Keown's prediction ahead of the all-important clash in Bilbao on Wednesday night. Both United and Spurs have endured terrible Premier League campaigns, sitting 16th and 17th in the table ahead of the final weekend of the season. Yet, both clubs have performed well in Europe and are desperate to win the Europa League, as it will give them not only a trophy but qualification for the Champions League. The two sides have already met three times this season, twice in the Premier League and in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, with Tottenham winning each time. But this final is a match that could go either way with Spurs under extreme pressure to end their 17-year wait for silverware, while manager Ange Postecoglou knows that defeat will surely cost him his job. 'My Tottenham roots pull me towards them and I want them to win of course,' former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said on Match of the Day 2. 'But I think Manchester United have the only player in both the sides whose reliable in the big games and can create magic: Bruno Fernandes. 'I think he's been a shining light and he'll make the difference.' In spite of United's awful form, Fernandes has been fantastic, recording 38 goal contributions in 55 appearances, including seven goals and five assists in the Europa League. Who will win the Europa League final? The Red Devils captain already has plenty of experience in major finals, leading his side to FA Cup and Carabao Cup glory in the past two years. Yet, Murphy's co-pundit Keown isn't convinced the attacking midfielder will be able to repeat the trick in Bilbao, instead predicting: 'I think Spurs will win it, I honestly do. 'I know it could be a long night, maybe Manchester United will look for extra-time and penalties but I feel like Spurs can win this.' Asked if Fernandes could make the difference for United, the Arsenal legend replied: 'I don't think he'll turn up on the night. More Trending 'I actually think Dominic Solanke might be the standout player. £65million will be like a snip if they win it.' Solanke has endured a difficult and injury-ridden first season in north London following his big money move from Bournemouth. The England striker has managed 15 goals and eight assists in 45 appearances, but appears to be finding form at the right time, scoring in each of the last three Europa League matches. MOTD 2 pundits on Champions League battle
Match of the Day 2 pundits have been having their say on the race for the Champions Murphy expects Newcastle to be "fine", adding: "At home to Everton, I would say so with those fans behind them."Manchester City have got it all in their own hands with that extra game. Bournemouth and Fulham - not easy games but I'd tip them as well."If you look around the dressing room and you look at the manager, they're just the best in their class. If they don't have the resilience and fortitude to get through those games then there is a real question mark. They should beat Bournemouth and Fulham nine out of 10 times when they need to.""That Chelsea-Forest game next week is the pick of the bunch. That's going to be one hell of an atmosphere down there."Martin Keown said: "I think Forest have been magnificent this year - a breath of fresh air to see how they've performed. It's looking tough for them right now. They just had a little blip at the wrong time but they can't have any regrets to the way they've played this season."I think Man City will have enough to get there and so will Aston Villa as well."Which way will it go? 'It can't all come from the manager'
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown says it's not just down to Mikel Arteta to respond to the club's near misses in the right way, responsibility also lies with the told Match of the Day 2: "Being the bridesmaid so often is the worst feeling in football and it takes a special group to come back from having that happen repeatedly, and win. I was lucky because I was part of a special group of players at Arsenal, but we still had to work on it."In the summer of 2001, Arsene Wenger brought in a psychologist who said to us that we were second best because the statistics proved we were. We weren't very happy about that, but then he told us that he did not believe that the statistics were telling the truth."He looked around the dressing room and said we have got World Cup winners in here, and you have all won trophies in the past. His message was that there was more under the bonnet, we just needed to find it."It was a clever move by Wenger and the parallels in Arsenal's current position means it is something Arteta could try too, but it can't all come from the manager - it is down to the players to respond in the right way."We did not make big changes to our squad that won nothing in 2001 to do the Double the following season. Sol Campbell arrived and Wenger told myself and Tony Adams that Sol would always play and one of us would be alongside him, but our only other major signing was Everton striker Francis Jeffers."I don't think this Arsenal squad needs an overhaul either, but the question always seems to come back to what they need to do to win trophies after finishing empty-handed again. The answer is usually a new player in a certain position, like a centre-forward this summer for example."I do think Arteta needs to strengthen in a few areas but I think what they really need to be successful is the mindset I mentioned above - so, a really strong group that has got such a burning desire to win that it hurts them to the core when they don't."Read more from Keown on Arteta and Arsenal
