Carlisle Cathedral to host its first-ever Jazz Weekend
Carlisle Cathedral is gearing up for its first-ever jazz weekend.
The event is set to take place over the early May Bank Holiday weekend, featuring concerts, a saxophone workshop, and a tea dance.
The festivities kick off on Friday, May 2, with Tommaso Starace on saxophone, Martin Longhawn on the Hammond organ, and Steve Hanley on drums, playing classic jazz tunes at Fratry Hall.
On Saturday, May 3, Tommaso will conduct a one-off saxophone workshop.
Later, Dom Pipkin will perform a 'boogie-woogie' piano concert.
Manchester's Out of the Blue Jazz Orchestra (Image: Supplied) On Sunday, May 4, the weekly Sung Eucharist at 10.30am will feature Bob Chilcott's Jazz Mass, sung by the Cathedral's Girl Choristers.
In the afternoon, Manchester's Out of the Blue Jazz Orchestra will play tunes from the 1920s to the 1960s at an Afternoon Tea Dance.
The weekend wraps up on the bank holiday Monday with The Big Shoes Band's Jazz Jam.

Tickets for all events are available at and the Cathedral Gift Shop, open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
The Jazz Weekend is part of Carlisle Cathedral's programme of events held throughout the year.
These include free live music recitals, artist exhibitions, craft fairs, family activities, concerts, and quiz nights.
