Two attacked by masked men as Audi torched amid Scottish 'gang war'
Detectives are appealing for vital information following a serious assault in East Kilbride. We reported how the 'targeted' incident happened shortly after 1pm on Monday, May 19, at a property on Wilson Place in the town. Emergency crews rushed to the scene. After that, two men, aged 41 and 45, were taken to hospital for treatment. Now, cops have revealed extensive investigations into the attack are ongoing. As part of the probe, officers are hunting for the culprits, who have been described as three men who were all wearing dark clothing and face coverings. Meanwhile, on Monday evening, cops said they were made aware of a vehicle blaze at around 9.15pm. The force was called to the Boswell Drive area of Blantyre, near East Kilbride, where a blue Audi A5 had been deliberately set alight. The inferno was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Luckily, no one was injured during the fire. Cops have since said that the two incidents are being treated as linked. Detective Superintendent Martin McGhee said: 'We believe this was a targeted incident. "From our enquiries so far, we believe the car that was set on fire was also used in the earlier serious assault. 'I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed either of these incidents to contact us as soon as possible. "In addition, anyone who has CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist our enquiries. "We understand these incidents will be concerning for the local community, but please be assured we will bring those involved to justice.' A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 1524 of Monday, May 19, 2025. Police are investigating possible links between a targeted attack at an East Kilbride garage and an ongoing gangland feud. Two men, aged 45 and 41, were taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.
