Popular waterfront festival will close Pierce County streets this weekend

Gig Harbor's annual Maritime Gig Festival will be in full swing on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8. Here are some of the details you might want to know about the schedule, transportation and street closures: Crews will close roads downtown for the festival, according to a Facebook post from the city's police department. The following streets will be impacted by the event: On Saturday, from 5:30 a.m. to June 8 at 7 p.m: Harborview Drive will be closed from Rosedale Street to 3026 Harborview Dr. Pioneer Way will be closed from Tarabochia Street to Harborview Drive. On Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m: Harborview Drive will be closed from Burnham Drive to Austin Street. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m: North Harborview Drive will be closed from Harborview Drive to Burnham Drive. Harborview Drive will be closed from Austin Street to Soundview Drive. Soundview Drive will be closed from Harborview Drive to Judson Street. Judson Street will be closed from Soundview Drive to Pioneer Way. Attendees can park for free at the Kimball Park & Ride and on residential streets downtown, according to the event website. People can also pay to park at the United Methodist Church and St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Free shuttles will be provided by Pierce Transit on both days from the Kimball Park & Ride to Judson Street, according to the website. A limousine company called All Black Limo is also offering free shuttle services on Saturday, according to the Martitime Gig Festival Facebook page. Their first route will be from Chapel Hill Church to the Gig Harbor Yacht Club from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. All Black Limo will transport passengers from Chapel Hill Church to Rosedale and Harborview. The weekend-long event includes the Martime Gig Grande Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, live entertainment, food vendors, and a car show at 11 a.m. Sunday. The festival honors Gig Harbor's maritime and fishing history. The annual Blessing of the Fleet is at 1 p.m. Sunday at Skansie Brothers Park.
