El-Sisi praises Armed Forces for safeguarding national security - Defence
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed Friday his appreciation for the Armed Forces' efforts to protect the nation, preserve its sanctities, and reinforce its national security across all strategic fronts. El-Sisi made these remarks during a meeting with Minister of Defence and Military Production Abdel Mageed Saqr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa, and senior military commanders. During the meeting, the president greeted the Armed Forces on the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan victories, which coincides with Egypt's celebration of Martyrs' and Veterans' Day, saluting the nation's martyrs. According to the Egyptian presidency, those heroic martyrs, with pride and honour, paved the way for the unending journey of sacrifice, bringing the dream of national progress and development to life across all the state's sectors. Earlier, President El-Sisi performed Friday prayers at El-Mosheer Tantawy Mosque in New Cairo in the presence of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayyeb, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and senior officials. According to the Egyptian presidency, the Friday sermon, titled "The Month of Victories and Martyr's Day," addressed the status of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives to preserve the nation's security and protect its sanctities. Egypt marks Martyr's Day in remembrance of Lieutenant General Abdel-Moneim Riyad, an Egyptian army chief of staff and veteran commander, who was killed in an Israeli mortar attack in Sinai on 9 March 1969 during the War of Attrition.
