Child pornography arrest for Vallejo man who served four decades for murder
A Vallejo man who served 41 years in prison for murdering a 13-year-old girl and whose experience inspired a feature-length documentary has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, drugs and a firearm. Deputies raided Marvin Mutch's home Thursday in connection with a child pornography investigation, according to a news release from the Solano County Sheriff's Office. Mutch, 68, was previously convicted in the 1975 Union City murder of 13-year-old Cassie Riley and served 41 years of a life without parole sentence, though he always denied any connection to the crime. He was granted parole in 2016. After his release, he became the subject of KQED News' first feature-length digital documentary, ' The Trials of Marvin Mutch, ' which is part profile, part detective story and part exposé. Mutch spent much of his time advocating for incarcerated inmates, appearing in Chronicle stories about prison suicide after a friend at San Quentin State Prison killed himself. After his arrest Thursday, Mutch was taken to a local hospital because of an ongoing medical condition and remains in custody, Sgt. Rexall Hawkins said. Mutch is set to be booked into Solano County Jail on three weapons charges, a charge of possessing child pornography and a drug charge.

Vallejo man convicted in decades-old teen murder found with child porn, loaded gun
(KRON) — A 68-year-old Vallejo man convicted in the 1975 Union City murder of a 13-year-old girl was found with child pornography, narcotics and a loaded firearm, according to the Solano County Sheriff's Office. 8th grade South San Francisco teacher accused of 'lewd acts' arrested: PD SCSO said Marvin Mutch served 41 years of a life-without-parole sentence in the death of Cassie Riley before being paroled in 2016. The sheriff's office said authorities arrested Mutch at his home on Thursday during a search warrant and seized several electronic devices that are now being analyzed by forensic experts. 'The investigation stemmed from an ongoing investigation into illegal activities involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM),' said SCSO in a news release. Mutch was booked into the Solano County Jail and faces several charges, including possession of child porn, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, and possession of a controlled substance while armed. He is being held on $300,000 bail, and the sheriff's office said more changes may be forthcoming. This remains an active case. SCSO added, 'The Solano County Sheriff's Office reminds the public that CSAM is a serious crime and encourages anyone with information about this case or similar activities to contact the Solano County Sheriff's Office tip line at 707-784-1963. A man who was paroled after being convicted in the 1974 murder of a teenage California girl has been arrested on allegations of child sexual abuse material possession. The Solano County Sheriff's Office says they served a search warrant at Marvin Mutch's Vallejo home on Thursday. Detectives had recently gathered evidence that allegedly linked Mutch to possession of child sex abuse material. Investigators also said they had reason to believe he was in possession of drugs and a loaded gun. Several electronic devices were seized during the search warrant, detectives say.
