Woman denies charges linked to alleged murder
A woman has denied charges linked to the alleged murder of another woman. Maryam Delavary, 48, pleaded not guilty to charges of preventing a lawful burial and doing acts tending to pervert the course of public justice. Delavary, of Australia Road, White City Estate, west London, spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas during a short hearing at Cardiff Crown Court. The charges relate to the death of Paria Veisi, 37, who was found dead at a property in the Penylan area of Cardiff in April. Co-defendant Alireza Askari, 41, of Penylan, Cardiff is accused of murdering Ms Veisi. He was not arraigned on the charges he faces, and he was remanded into custody. A four-week trial is due to begin at Cardiff Crown Court on October 6. South Wales Police said Ms Veisi was reported missing after leaving her workplace in the Canton area of Cardiff on April 12. An inquest hearing heard this week that Ms Veisi's body was found seven days later on April 19. A post-mortem examination found the provisional cause of death was from stab wounds to the neck and upper chest. Area coroner Patricia Morgan adjourned the inquest for police investigations to conclude.

Ms Delavary appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday alongside Alireza Askari, 41, from Penylan, who is charged with murdering Ms Veisi. He did not enter a plea and both were remanded in custody. Ms Delavary spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas during a short hearing at the court. An inquest opening heard Ms Veisi's provisional cause of death was stab wounds to the neck and upper chest. Ms Delavary and Mr Askari's four-week trial was set for 6 October.

A 37-year-old woman who was last seen alive leaving work died of stab wounds, a coroner's court has heard. The body of Paria Veisi was found at a property in the Penylan area of Cardiff on April 19, seven days after she went missing. Alireza Askari, 41, is accused of murdering Ms Veisi, preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and assaulting a person occasioning them actual bodily harm. An inquest into Ms Veisi's death was opened at South Wales Central Coroner's Court in Pontypridd on Thursday. The coroner's officer said the pathologist's post-mortem report listed the provisional cause of death as stab wounds to the neck and upper chest. Area coroner Patricia Morgan adjourned the inquest for police investigations to conclude. She said: 'On the basis of the evidence that has been set out to me this morning, I have reason to suspect that her death might be violent in nature. 'I have been informed by South Wales Police that there is an ongoing investigation and on that basis, I suspend the inquest until I am informed the criminal proceedings reach their conclusion.' She passed on her condolences to Ms Veisi's friends and family. Askari appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on April 22 alongside Maryam Delavary, 48, of Australia Road, White City Estate, west London. Delavary is accused of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and conspiring to pervert the course of justice. A four-week trial is due to start in October. A WOMAN discovered dead in a garden after she vanished leaving work suffered stab wounds, an inquest heard today. Paria Veisi, 37, was last seen on April 12 making her way out of her office building in Cardiff at around 3pm. The businesswoman's £40,000 Mercedes GLC 220 was later found parked on a residential street but there was no sign of Paria. Tragically, police confirmed her body had been found in a suburban garden that belonged to her estranged husband Alireza Askari. Askari, 41, has been charged with murder, preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and assaulting a person occasioning them actual bodily harm. An inquest heard today how Paria's provisional cause of death was given as stab wounds to the neck and upper chest. A full hearing will be carried out at South Wales Central Coroner's Court on a date to be set.
