KUCHING (April 25): Pertubuhan Penganut Tua Pek Kong Tasik Biru Bau has donated five solar-powered lights to the Bau Malay Cemetery.
According to a press release, the donation was facilitated by the Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP) Bau branch to improve safety and convenience for the local Malay community.
This initiative came in response to a request from the Malay community in Bau, who highlighted the lack of lighting at the cemetery ― an issue that posed challenges during night-time burial activities.
In response, SUPP Bau submitted a formal request to Masjid Darul Iman Bau seeking permission for the installation, ensuring the process would respect the sensitivity and sanctity of the cemetery grounds.
The statement was issued following a simple ceremony yesterday, during which Masjid Darul Iman Bau representative Burhanudin Abu Bakar received the solar-powered lights from Pertubuhan Penganut Tua Pek Kong Tasik Biru chairman Pemanca Bong Jong Long.
Also present was SUPP Bau branch chairman Chong Yie Loong.
SUPP Bau expressed its appreciation to the Pertubuhan Penganut Tua Pek Kong Tasik Biru for their generosity and commitment to community welfare.
The party also reaffirmed its dedication to fostering unity among Bau's diverse communities through practical and inclusive initiatives.
