Nepo baby Nico Parker follows in famous mom's footsteps at screening of How To Train Your Dragon

Nico Parker looked stunning at a screening for How To Train Your Dragon in London on Tuesday. The daughter of British actress Thandiwe Newton, 20, sizzled on the red carpet in a stunning semi-sheer cream gown embroidered with delicate florals. Her chic floor-length dress featured a high neckline, long flared sleeves, and a dusky pink drape detail cinched at the waist. She completed the look with pointed heels and styled her brunette hair in loose waves. The actress posed at the event with co-stars Mason Thames, Gerard Butler, Nico, Cressida Cowell, and Nick Frost. Nico also stood for photos with the movie's director Dean DeBlois. Nice portrays Astrid in How To Train The Dragon. The new movie reimagines the 2010 animated classic with a fresh cast and breathtaking visuals. Alongside Mason as Hiccup and Gerard reprising his role as Stoick, Nico helped bring the emotional and action-packed story to life. The movie is scheduled for release on June 13, and will be available in various formats, including RealD 3D, IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and D-Box.

How the New ‘How to Train Your Dragon' Made Berk Feel Real

io9 recently caught up with filmmaker Dean DeBlois, the creative force behind both the DreamWorks animated franchise and Universal Pictures' upcoming live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon. DeBlois discussed the process to bring the Viking world of Berk to life, emphasizing the vital role of practical effects in capturing the experience of interacting and riding dragons for his actors. That was key in making big moments feel real, particularly when Hiccup (Mason Thames) meets his future Nightfury friend. 'Toothless in those scenes was a foam head,' DeBlois said. Animatronics were used during all the flight sequences. 'We had to capture convincing movement from our actors when they were riding dragons rather than just having them sit in a box and be moved around,' he said. 'And that meant that we built these giant gimbals that were about eight or 10 feet tall that could move in six different axes.' Each dragon in the film had its own animatronic model to assist the actors in immersing themselves as dragon riders. Thames obviously had to spend the most time 'on dragon,' since the story focuses on Hiccup and Toothless' journey. DeBlois described the experience of bringing dragon riding to life for his lead actor: 'It was the chest, the neck, and the head, and they could all move independently, either joystick controlled or controlled by animation that had already been done by the animators. As he is dipping and diving and rolling and ascending, Mason's body is reacting to all of that like a jockey on a horse.' DeBlois revealed that the technique was very new. 'It's the first time anyone had done it actually, so it was fraught with anxiety that it might not work or break down on us, but it turned out to be perfect.' The magic of John Powell's iconic themes for the animated films, in collaboration with cinematographer Bill Pope's eye for visuals, helped breathe new life into Hiccup's friendship with Toothless. The collaboration really steered the film in the direction DeBlois aimed for. Of Pope's work behind the camera, he said, 'I think Bill understood from the beginning that there was a lot to preserve about the animated movie that we had to try to keep in place. The whimsy in the heart and the sense of wish fulfillment and fantasy. Through his camera lens, the world becomes grounded but retains all of those things. And of course John Powell's music just marries it all.' The expansion of the score was of great importance, DeBlois said. 'I always say that everything we do in making a movie gets it halfway there, and then you hand it to the composer and they'll take it the other half of the way because music transcends words and goes right to the heart.' He added that they were fortunate to have Powell's iconic music accompanying the narrative, elevating it to new heights. With the anticipation of the film's release, we noted that Berk now has a real-life version fans can visit at Epic Universe and asked his thoughts on the land at Universal Orlando Resort. While he didn't get to test most of the rides, he was pleased with the way it brought the Isle of Berk's life with dragons to our universe. 'I thought it was gonna be a little corny, but it turned out to be kind of amazing,' he said of the Toothless meet and greet. He was also really impressed by Universal Orlando's casting for the theme park version of Hiccup. 'The kid has really done his study; he has all of the mannerisms and voice down but also embodies the characteristics that Jakob Jensen, [the film's] lead animator, brought to it,' he added. How to Train Your Dragon hits theaters June 13.

Black Phone sequel releases terrifying new teasers

The Black Phone 2 has unveiled three terrifying new teasers, ahead of its upcoming release. The original movie followed shy 13-year-old Finney Shaw (Mason Thames), who was abducted by a mask-wearing child killer known as The Grabber (Ethan Hawke). But things take an eerie turn when a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring and Finney hears the voices of The Grabber's previous victims. The horror sequel is scheduled to hit cinemas later this year with Thames, Hawke, Madeleine McGraw and Jeremy Davies reprising their roles. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, new footage released by Fandango has revealed a key location, different victims and, of course, a black phone. 'The phone is ringing again. Are you going to answer?'We just got a text that included the first tease for BLACK PHONE 2! "Jesus, I'm not doing so well. I need help, some real help," narrates an unknown voice. "I'm scared he's gonna kill me." The character details what happened to each of the boys at the camp, alongside horrific flashbacks of the deaths. Meanwhile, the third and final teaser shows ominous flashes of the terrifying dead victims, whose bloodied bodies were hidden across the camp. The clip ends with a voice declaring "we're going to die out here", followed by an inside shot of the telephone box. Ring, Ring! It's the First ‘Black Phone 2' Trailer

Ethan Hawke is back and terrorizing some more kids in Blumhouse's 'Black Phone 2.' Those weekend teases had to lead up to something, right? Blumhouse unveiled a full first look at Black Phone 2 during its CCPX panel, and if you've ever wanted to see Ethan Hawke ice skate toward someone he intends to murder, this sequel will be for you. With main baddie the Grabber (Hawke) dead, the sequel picks up years after the first, the now teenage Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeline McGraw) Blake dealing with another Colorado winter. Soon, Gwen finds herself dreaming of the Grabber's lair and three young boys who've been killed dead at Alpine Lake Youth Camp. Using a black payphone near the camp, the Grabber calls the teens up saying he's looking to kill them: either in their dreams or potentially in the real world, he's gonna get his revenge. Talking to THR, returning director/co-writer Scott Derrickson called Black Phone 2 a ghost story like its predecessor, but one where 'the ghost is the villain.' And with the kids aged up, he and co-writer C. Robert Cargill were excited to 'ratchet up the intensity,' since Finn and Gwen in high school makes for a 'more violent, scarier, more graphic' film. Black Phone 2 hits theaters on October 17 and also stars Jeremy Davies, Anna Lore, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, and Demián Bichir. How to Train Your Dragon filmmakers praise Northern Ireland's 'amazing landscapes'

The makers of the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon have praised Northern Ireland's "amazing landscapes" where the film was shot. Director, writer and producer Dean deBlois, who was behind the acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, has reimagined the film that launched the franchise as a live-action feature. The fantasy film, which stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison and Gerard Butler, filmed in filmed in multiple locations in Northern Ireland including Dunseverick Castle, Murlough Bay and Tollymore Forest. A synopsis for the film reads: "On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames) stands apart. "The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society." In a new featurette for the film, director deBlois spoke about why Northern Ireland was the perfect location to recreate this world. "Working in Northern Ireland means that we are essentially stepping in to the world of Berk," he said. "You get the crashing sea, you get the rugged coastlines, the green rolling hills, the very changeable weather – all of those aspects that you think are associated to the island of Berk are here in plenty." Stunt Coordinator Roy Taylor agreed, saying: "Working in some of the locations we were working in – the Giant's Causeway... Tollymore Forest – those places are so beautiful, and I really think it's going to add a whole new extra element to the picture." Actor Nico Parker, who plays Astrid in the film, added: "We filmed in such a beautiful location, I think it's as true to Berk as it would be in real life. "As an actor it's the dream, it's so much easier to become your character and step in to this world." How to Train Your Dragon is in cinemas on Monday, 9 June.
