Kota Kinabalu: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) providing free ambulance services in Sabah received a timely boost after Lahad Datu Hospital donated a stretcher bed to support its daily operations. The contribution not only improves its emergency response efforts but also symbolises public healthcare support for community welfare initiatives by the NGO, known as Persatuan Amal dan Jariah Sabah, or Team Amal. Its founder, Masrul Guding, said the stretcher would allow their ambulance service to operate more effectively. 'This is a very meaningful gift to us, as previously our operations were limited due to a shortage of stretchers and difficulty in moving bedridden patients,' he said on Sunday. He said the donation also reflected the Health Ministry's backing of Team Amal's efforts in the State. 'Team Amal currently operates two ambulances – one each in Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu – and plans to expand to more districts in future,' he said.
Advertisement Masrul also thanked the staff of Lahad Datu Hospital for their support and help in ensuring Team Amal's ambulance service runs smoothly. Team Amal also provides free hearse van services, with four vehicles currently operating state-wide. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
