Soccer Football - Serie A - Inter Milan v Lazio - San Siro, Milan, Italy - May 18, 2025 Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries celebrates scoring their second goal with teammates REUTERS/Massimo Pinca Soccer Football - Serie A - Parma v Napoli - Stadio Ennio Tardini, Parma, Italy - May 18, 2025 Napoli's Matteo Politano with teammates applaud fans after the match REUTERS/Alberto Lingria Inter Milan and Napoli will play their final Serie A games of the season on Friday instead of Sunday, the Italian league announced on Monday. The Lega Serie A council decided Napoli's home game against Cagliari and Inter's away match against Como will kick off simultaneously at 2045 CEST (1845 GMT). Antonio Conte's Napoli are top of the league standings on 79 points, one ahead of defending champions Inter going into the final matchday. Should the two sides end level on points, a playoff will be required to determine the title winner. The potential playoff could be played on May 26, leaving time for Inter to prepare the Champions League final on May 31. Six remaining matches will be played on Sunday, deciding the European places and relegation. REUTERS Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

Soccer-Inter overcome Torino to keep pressure on Napoli

Soccer Football - Serie A - Torino v Inter Milan - Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Turin, Italy - May 11, 2025 Inter Milan's Mehdi Taremi shoots at goal REUTERS/Massimo Pinca TURIN, Italy (Reuters) - Inter Milan kept their Serie A dream alive with a confident 2-0 win at Torino on a rain-drenched Sunday, showing no signs of letting up in the title race. With two rounds remaining in Serie A for the Champions League finalists, they are now level on 77 points with Napoli, who host Genoa later on Sunday, at the top. Heavy rain and a thunderstorm disrupted play, halting the first half for minutes and delaying the second-half restart. Inter took the lead after 14 minutes, with Nicola Zalewski losing his marker with a clever turn before cutting inside to the edge of the box and slotting the ball into the net. In the 49th minute, with the rain pouring down, Inter were awarded a penalty after Torino keeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic fouled Mehdi Taremi. Kristjan Asllani converted from the spot to double the visitors' lead and seal the match. (Reporting by Tommy Lund in Gdansk; Editing by Toby Davis)
