'Overwhelmed' - McIlroy speaks on reaction to Masters win with Jimmy Fallon
RORY MCILROY CONTINUES to bask in the glow of his remarkable Masters triumph last month, revealing he has been 'overwhelmed' by the reaction and congratulatory messages he has received in the wake of his success. McIlroy ended his major drought and complted the career grand slam after winning a play-off against Justin Rose at the Masters at Augusta. Appearing on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show on NBC, McIlroy said he was particularly taken aback by Elton John getting in contact with him. Advertisement 'I was sort of overwhelmed with the people that reached out from all different walks of life, you know, culture, entertainment. 'But the one that got me was Sir Elton John. That was like, incredible. 'So I actually haven't been able to connect with him, so his assistant left me a voicemail and said, 'Sir Elton would love to congratulate you in person.' 'The only problem is he doesn't have a cellphone. So you might get a call from a number in Windsor, England, from a landline. 'But we haven't been able to connnect. So I'd love to, you knoww, to reach out. It's Elton John, it's so cool. I didn't even know Elton John knew what golf was. 'So yeah just super-humbled and the amount of people that reached out, it's been really cool.' 'There's six people ever have achieved the career grand slam in golf. There's only four of us are living. Gary Player's 90 years old, Jack's 85, 86. 'And then Tiger and myself. Really cool to be a part of.' McIlroy also spoke about his daughter Poppy's putt at the Masters Par-3 contest and his cameo role alongside Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2, which is scheduled for release this July. The segment finished with McIlroy recreating the clip from his appearance on the Gerry Kelly Show on UTV, by chipping balls into a washing machine.

Rory McIlroy reveals Poppy's adorable message after magic Masters moment
Rory McIlroy has revealed that his daughter Poppy had an adorable message following her starring show at the Masters Par-3 contest. Poppy played alongside Rory, Shane Lowry and his daughter Iris, at the Par-3 contest and wowed the Augusta National faithful when she held a long-range putt on the famous course. The patrons in attendance roared with delight as Poppy was mobbed by her father, Lowry and great pal Iris. However, and quite understandably, the toddler seemed stunned by the reaction. Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in America on Thursday evening, McIlroy spoke about Poppy's viral moment and revealed that the four-year-old had an adorable message for her father. "She got super overwhelmed. I don't think she expected the loud cheer, so she started to cry a little bit and I picked her up,' McIlroy said after a clip of Poppy's putt was shown. "When we got back to the clubhouse she wanted to see the video, so she looked at it and she studied it, and then she turned to me and said, 'It's okay daddy, I don't think they caught me crying!' That's all she was worried about but it was an amazing moment.' During the chat with Fallon, McIlroy spoke about the amount of congratulatory messages he received, and one in particular stood out. "I was overwhelmed with the number of people who reached out but the one that got me was Sir Elton John. That was incredible.' "I haven't been able to connect with him, so his assistant left me a voicemail saying Elton would like to congratulate you in person, the only problem is he doesn't have a cell phone, so you might get a call from a landline in Windsor, England! Canadian golf star Corey Conners has won twice on the PGA Tour -- both at the Texas Open -- and has played well at the Masters, with three top-10s to his name. And he's got a family with his wife, Malory, who we've seen by his side over the years at tournaments (we've seen them at the Masters Par-3 tournament too!), including at those wins. They've been joined by Reis Conners, their daughter and now they have No. 2 in their son Tate. Thy got married back in 2018 and we've seen photos of the family all over his Instagram page.
