📚 Unique milestones to watch out for this weekend in MLS

The 2025 MLS season rolls on this weekend after some scintillating midweek action. Matchday 13 served up more of the same from some of the biggest names and top sides in the league to set the primer on more pending action in a few days' time capable of shifting quite a few narratives. Advertisement With that in mind, here are some of the unique milestones to watch out for this weekend across all the Matchday 14 action from coast to coast as MLS Rival Week continues. Orlando roaring toward a big undefeated run Orlando SC is on a roll of late and a chance to close on a historic club marker takes center stage this weekend when The Lions come to grips with in-state rivals Inter Miami. Should Óscar Pareja's men avoid defeat at Chase Stadium, Orlando will extend their current unbeaten run to eleven after their 3-1 win against Charlotte on Wednesday night, putting them one away from their club-record 12-match unbeaten run set back in 2020. 📸 via MLS Communications Rusnák adding to his MLS CV Despite a new-look attack at Seattle, key man Albert Rusnák remains everpresent for headmaster Brian Schmetzer, banking five goals and three assists across the 2025 MLS season thus far. Advertisement The Slovakian international comes into the weekend with a chance to etch his name deeper into club lore as well. Should he bag a brace against Portland, Rusnák would become just the second player in league history to hit at least 25 goals and 25 assists for multiple clubs and take up a position alongside MLS legend Steve Ralston in the process. 📸 via MLS Communications Antony proving his importance for Portland As one of the leading goal-getters across the 2025 MLS season thus far, Phil Neville's Portland Timbers are a force to be reckoned with, and Brazilian forward Antony has played a huge part in their attacking success thus far. Advertisement Though he failed to extend his assist streak to six matches after a 0-0 away draw against Real Salt Lake, Antony has still planted himself on the list of longest assist streaks in the league since 2015, and his seven helpers are second only to San Jose's Cristian Espinoza (8) across the current campaign. 📸 via MLS Communications Arango remains on the boil for San Jose One of the faces of the league and a dynamic forward that few can match, San Jose's Cristian Arango is in the thick of the Golden Boot race after Wednesday, scoring a third-minute opener during the Earthquakes' 3-3 draw against Inter Miami. Advertisement Now sitting on nine goals and just one behind league leader Tai Baribo, Arango would become only the seventh player in league history to bag at least 10 goals in a season for three clubs or more. He would join MLS icons Jeff Cunningham, Dwayne De Rosario, Eddie Johnson, Kei Kamara, Ola Kamara, and CJ Sapong as the other players to achieve the same, and it is worth noting that five of those six players went on to reach the top-20 all-time goalscoring list. 📸 via MLS Communications Rivalry Week remains at center stage After Wednesday's first rivalry clash between St. Louis City and Sporting KC, the upcoming weekend fixture list is littered with bitter clashes across the country. Advertisement Below is a reminder of who is set to lock horns, and some context surrounding each fixture given the current MLS landscape this season. 📸 via MLS Communications Canadian Classique (CF Montréal vs. Toronto FC): It's 15th vs 14th when Montréal hosts Toronto on Saturday, but a chance for L'Impact to pull level on points with The Reds, as well as bragging rights, could be a tasty incentive. Hudson River Derby (New York City FC vs. New York Red Bulls): 9th hosts 8th here, and with both New York clubs level on points in the East, this could get entertaining and ugly on the pitch. Hell is Real (Columbus Crew vs. FC Cincinnati): After climbing into the top spot in the East as well as the Supporters' Shield, Cincinnati faces the task of humbling in-state rivals Columbus away from home and the prospect of falling off their perch after full-time. Texas Derby (FC Dallas vs. Houston Dynamo FC): With both sides in with a chance of climbing into the top-nine positions in the West, a derby clash between Dallas and Houston should offer up plenty of talking points. Rocky Mountain Cup (Colorado Rapids vs. Real Salt Lake): Sitting 9th and hopeful of a deeper run up the Western table, Colorado welcomes RSL to their home patch, with the away side capable of usurping the Rapids should they win. Cascadia Cup (Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders FC): After suffering a thrashing at the hands of LAFC, Seattle will look to bounce back against fierce rivals Portland, but the Timbers will be motivated by a chance to possibly move into second in the West. Inter Miami CF vs. in-state rival Orlando City SC: Orlando's undefeated run will be put to the test against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, with both sides capable of moving into fourth in the East should they bag three points. El Tráfico (LA Galaxy vs. LAFC): Arguably the top rival across the entire league, another installment of El Tráfico offers bottom-dwelling LA Galaxy a chance to prove spoiler against an LAFC outfit that is beginning to cook with some gas. 📸 Editorial Photo Credit: © Nathan Ray Seebeck | 2025 May 14-Imagn Images

There's a significant piece of team news from the home side as goalkeeper Luke Dennison and March player of the month Darragh Markey are not in the Drogheda squad which comes as a considerable blow. That's three of six changes to the XI from Kevin Doherty's side in Dennison, Markey and Paul Doyle that are injury-related, but the other trio of alterations seem to be tactical. Cork hand a first start of the season to Harry Nevin, after he made his comeback from injury as a sub in Friday's draw at home to Shamrock Rovers. 34 minutes ago The latest from a sunny Eamonn Deacy Park: Bohemians are in Galway and aiming to keep up their form at Eamon Deacy Park but with just one clean sheet in the last eight games, their defending is a concern. Alan Reynolds has moved things around for his team, three changes to the side that lost at home to Waterford, so no place for Rob Cornwall, Colm Whelan or Keith Buckley. Galway have also freshened up their side, a first start of the season for a fit-again Conor McCormack after two sub appearances while Colm Horgan also comes into the XI, no Cian Byrne for United as he is ineligible under the terms of his loan from Bohs. 38 minutes ago Aidan Fitzmaurice is in Drumcondra this evening as Shels take on Waterford: Hello from a sunny Tolka Park where it's the away side, Waterford, who are the form team, off the back of Friday's 2-1 win away to another Dublin side (Bohemians) and the home club who are struggling for form, Shelbourne with a run of one win in six games. Newly-appointed Waterford boss John Coleman is in the ground but caretaker Matt Lawlor is in charge for the last time. He's clearly happy with his boys as the Blues are unchanged from the side that beat Bohs. Shels make two changes. Mark Coyle is free from suspension and reclaims his place in the team, Harry Wood also in as Sam Bone and Ali Coote drop to the bench 45 minutes ago Good afternoon and welcome to another live blog covering Matchday 14 of the League of Ireland Premier Division.
