Their legacies live on today into the current crop of athletes who inhabit several of the state's top programs, from top soccer programs to tennis, track and field, and, of course, football.

Which California high schools are currently the best for athletes?
According to one study, which accounts for survey feedback from students and parents—accounting for "reviews of athletics, number of state championships, student participation in athletics, and the number of sports offered at the school"—and data from the U.S. Department of Education, these are the top 25.
Surprisingly, one USA TODAY Sports Super 25 power is not on the list.
