India is full of incredible places and now and then, something unexpected catches everyone's attention. Recently, a video of a cricket ground from Kerala has left the internet stunned. And let us tell you, it is not just any ordinary cricket ground, it is like a slice of natural beauty hidden deep within lush greenery. The video shows the Palappilly ground, located inside the Harrisons Malayalam Plantation in Varandarappilly, Thrissur. Captured by a drone, the footage begins with the line, 'This is not the Amazon rainforest." As the camera moves up, a large green field slowly comes into view, which is surrounded by thick trees on all sides. Then comes the next line – 'This is Palappilly Ground, Thrissur." At the centre, a group of people are seen playing cricket. The pitch stands out as the only patch not covered with trees while everything else around it is green, dense and picture-perfect. The clip was posted on Instagram and has become a viral sensation. It has already crossed over forty million views, with users sharing their amazement. One user commented, 'Was here all my childhood… Real Nostalgia." Another said, 'Ok, at first glance I really thought it's a place which they show in the 'Twilight' movie." A person wote, 'Is this real life!? I must go here!" while someone even joked, 'One sixer and the ball can never be found." The cricket ground stands out inside the 100-acre rubber plantation because of how clean, quiet, and perfectly shaped it is. According to the field is surrounded by tall gulmohar trees on the sides and thick rubber trees all around. The field looks like a neat box placed right in the middle of nature. In the centre, there's a well-used cricket pitch. Locals often use it for cricket and football and small tournaments are also held here. During June, the gulmohar trees bloom with red and orange flowers. According to a report by the ground was made long ago by the Harrison Malayalam company for their plantation workers. There used to be another similar field nearby but it was later removed. Now, this is the only one left in the area. Over time, it has become more than just a sports ground for staff. It is now a space where the entire local community gathers to play, spend time and enjoy together. First Published:
