Volkswagen Golf GTI launched in India: Check price, specifications, key features and more
Volkswagen has officially introduced the Golf GTI in India, marking the launch of this legendary performance hatchback in the country. Priced at ₹53 lakh (ex-showroom), the Golf GTI is imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in limited quantities to maintain exclusivity. Engine and performance The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. The sporty hatchback delivers impressive performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically restricted to 250 km/h. Exterior styling Sporty yet refined, the Golf GTI's exterior showcases a honeycomb grille accented in red, an illuminated Volkswagen emblem, Matrix LED headlights, and X-shaped LED fog lamps. The car rolls on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and is offered in four color options: Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, Moonstone Grey, and Oryx White. Interior highlights The cabin of the Golf GTI is both premium and sporty. It features a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with ChatGPT-enabled voice commands, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red GTI badge. The seats sport a tartan fabric pattern, complemented by wireless charging, three-zone climate control, paddle shifters, and customizable ambient lighting with 30 color options. Safety and tech features Safety comes first with seven airbags, a rear-view camera, tire pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The vehicle is also equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and rear traffic alert. Live Events Availability The Golf GTI is expected to be available for delivery starting June 2025 at select Volkswagen dealerships in major Indian cities. 2026 Jeep Compass: Check out 5 key highlights of the refreshed American SUV
The new Jeep Compass is now larger and that translates into more interior space. Jeep has officially revealed the third-generation Compass SUV, bringing with it a major upgrade in every aspect—from styling and space to off-road prowess and powertrains. While the India launch has not yet been confirmed, the country's role as a production hub for the current-gen Compass makes it highly likely. Here's a deeper dive into the five biggest highlights of the new Compass: 2 Off-road capability True to Jeep's heritage, the new Compass continues to offer excellent off-road ability. The 2026 model features improved approach, breakover, and departure angles, with the all-wheel-drive variants offering up to 27 degrees of approach, 16 degrees of breakover, and 31 degrees of departure angle. The SUV boasts a water wading depth of up to 470 mm and includes hill descent control as standard on AWD variants. It also benefits from Jeep's Select-Terrain system, which adapts the suspension and drivetrain to different terrains such as snow, sand, and mud. Revised suspension components including new springs, dampers, and an anti-roll bar further enhance both ride comfort and handling across surfaces. 3 Dimensions and interior Jeep has increased the overall size of the Compass, resulting in significant improvements in interior space. Passengers now enjoy 55 mm of extra legroom at the rear, while interior storage space has gone up by 34 litres. Boot capacity has also been increased by 45 litres, taking it up to 550 litres. Inside, the cabin layout has been modernized with a new 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 16-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports over-the-air updates. The Compass now offers a head-up display, semi-automatic lane change assist, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Matrix LED lighting. A 40:20:40 split rear seat and mobile phone-based vehicle access further enhance practicality and convenience. 4 Powertrain and performance The third-gen Compass is future-ready with multiple powertrain options, starting with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that produces 192 bhp. There is also a mild-hybrid version using a 48-volt system delivering 143 bhp, designed to optimize fuel efficiency. More impressively, the new Compass will be available as a full-electric SUV. The base electric version produces 210 bhp and comes with front-wheel drive, while the top-spec electric model offers a powerful 370 bhp through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The rear motor alone contributes 66 bhp and 323 Nm of torque. The electric Compass offers a claimed driving range of up to 650 km on a single charge. Charging from 20 to 80 percent takes just 30 minutes using a 160 kW DC fast charger. Jeep has also integrated aerodynamic elements such as an active grille shutter, air ducts, a flat underbody, and sharp-edged rear design to reduce drag and improve efficiency.
