Regarding Matt Bai's May 25 Sunday Opinion column, 'Graduates speak their minds. Universities freak out.': Bai is wrong about Cecilia Culver's commencement speech at George Washington University. This is not a First Amendment issue. No one disputes that 'higher education exists to challenge our preconceptions' or that Culver had a First Amendment right to say what she wanted. Rather, she veered from her approved speech when, clearly, there was and is an appropriate time and place for her to express her position on a matter she apparently feels so deeply about.

Elon Musk needed to dream bigger
In today's edition: What if Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency flamed out not because they were too ambitious? What if the problem was that they weren't ambitious enough? That Musk's goals, as Matt Bai writes, were 'so pathetically small'? Musk is leaving Washington in a mood that 'resembles his Cybertruck,' Matt says — 'ugly and adolescent' — and for all his finger-pointing, the entrepreneur has only himself to blame. The public might reasonably have expected Musk to bring to government some of the genuinely innovative thinking that made him a phenom in the business world; Matt floats as one project the reinvention of government 'as an app you could trust.'
