Tennessee baseball defeats Wake Forest, wins 2025 Knoxville Regional No. 14 national seed Tennessee (46-17) defeated Wake Forest (39-22), 11-5, Monday to win the Knoxville Regional of the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. With the victory, the Vols advance to the Fayetteville Super Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas for a best-of-three series. The Demon Deacons led, 2-0, in the second inning after Matt Conte hit a two-run home run. Tennessee pulled to within, 2-1, in the third inning after Levi Clark scored when Gavin Kilen reached base on an error. The Vols scored seven runs in the fourth inning and led, 8-2. Wake Forest scored two runs in the fifth inning and added one run in the sixth inning, making the score, 8-5. Tennessee combined for three runs in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Manny Marin went 3-for-3 and hit a three-run home run and one double. He recorded three RBIs and scored two runs. Andrew Fischer went 1-for-2 and hit a two-run home run, recording two RBIs and scored two runs. AJ Russell started for the Vols. He pitched 1.2 innings and allowed two runs and three hits. Russell recorded three strikeouts, while totaling 38 pitches, including 26 strikes. Brayden Krenzel (3-0) pitched 2.2 innings in relief for Tennessee. He allowed two runs, one hit and two walks. Krenzel recorded three strikeouts, while totaling 55 pitches, including 33 strikes. Liam Doyle earned his first save of the season. He pitched 2.1 innings and recorded five strikeouts.
