Monster Powerball jackpot soars to $100million - here's what you need to know

The Powerball jackpot has soared to a whopping nine figures after it failed to go off for a fourth consecutive week. Thursday night's $50m Powerball jackpot was the biggest since a Queensland man won $60m in February. The winning numbers from draw 1516 were 1, 30, 12, 34, 24, 9 and 6. The Powerball was 10. There were no division one winners as the jackpot for next week's draw soared to $100million - the equal highest in 2025. Six division two winners are $121,979.60 richer while another 93 third division winners pocketed $9,783.90. One in two Australian adults are expected to enter next week's draw. If one single player takes out the entire jackpot, they'll share the crown of Australia's third biggest individual lottery winner ever. 'It's been more than six months since Powerball last offered $100 million to Australian lottery players – on that occasion, the prize was won by two division one winning entries,' The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said. 'We will be waiting on the edge of our seats to see if Powerball welcomes another division one winner or two next week, or if the jackpot climbs even higher. 'So far this year, Powerball has seen a steady procession of division one winners, which is why we haven't seen the jackpot climb too high… until now.' The last Powerball division one win was on May 9 when a NSW man going through a 'rough patch' pocketed $30 million. 'The ticket was there with all the bills,' he told The Lott officials. 'There will be no more worrying about bills now. I don't care if I get a bill now.' Thursday night's draw comes two days after a Tasmanian made early retirement plans after taking home $70million in Tuesday night's OzLotto jackpot. The lucky winner, who secured the island state's biggest ever lottery win, told The Lott he 'hardly slept all night' after learning he had won. 'I was wondering if I was dreaming and I was going to wake up and someone was going to say 'it was all just a dream',' he told The Lott officials Despite the lifechanging windfall, the man showed up for work the next morning. 'It's minus one degree here at the moment where I am working. I might just go and hand my resignation in right now,' he said. The Lott recorded 422 division one winners in 2024, including 19 Powerball entries who pocketed more than $758m in prize money. During that time, Powerball offered a $200m jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150m became the nation's biggest individual lottery winner.

Lottery officials searching for one lucky Victorian resident who won Oz Lotto $70m jackpot after buying ticket online

Victorian residents who purchased a ticket in the Oz Lotto $70 million draw are being urged to check their ticket after just one lucky person won the jackpot. The mystery winner held the only division one winning entry into draw number 1633 on Tuesday night, instantly becoming Australia's newest millionaire. The player based in Victoria had purchased an 18-game entry online for about $26. The winning numbers were 44, 34, 45, 1, 46, 25 and 21. The supplementary numbers were 9, 14 and 16. However, The Lott officials have been unable to contact them on Tuesday night. Spokesman Matt Hart urged Victorians to check their tickets for the potential life-changing news, with one in five Australians buying a ticket into the draw. 'While the Victorian entry was purchased online, unfortunately, we don't have their complete contact details, so we are unable to make a mind-blowing phone call to them," he said. 'That is why we are encouraging everyone in Victoria to check their entries because they may be the multi-millionaire we are searching for. 'While we are unable to confirm the win we can guarantee that when they discover the news, it's sure to be met with a hefty mix of shock and excitement." The winner, once their ticket is confirmed, will go into the history books given it is the second-largest lottery win in the state. Two other Victorians had separately won $80 million each in other lotteries. Most Lotto winners come forward between one and seven days after the draw.
