BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Julie Ann Hockenberry, 42, of Boardman, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with melanoma. Born March 26, 1983, in Youngstown, Julie was the beloved daughter of Susan (Nespeca) Muscatello and Rodney Bowyer. She continued to grow both personally and professionally, eventually building a successful and impactful career with AT&T. Over her 10 years as Associate Director, Julie was not only a respected leader but also a mentor and source of inspiration to many colleagues. Julie met the love of her life, Matt, while working at IGA. Their connection was instant. From their first encounter, they knew something extraordinary had begun. The two were married on August 9, 2014. Together, they shared twenty years filled with laughter, devotion, and adventure. Julie embraced every role in her life with purpose—from wife and mother to friend and professional. Known for her heart of gold, Julie always put others before herself, even during her most difficult days. She faced every challenge with unwavering strength, radiant hope, and a grace that inspired all who knew her. Her warmth, compassion, and thoughtful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Julie was a creative soul who found joy in scrapbooking, collecting designer brands, and creating special moments with those she loved. She treasured quality time with friends and family, whether traveling to new places, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and THE Ohio State Buckeyes, or simply enjoying the everyday beauty of life. Her joyful presence lit up every room, and her laugh was truly unforgettable. She is survived by her devoted husband, Matt, and her cherished son, William 'Ernie' Rotan III, both of Boardman; her loving parents, Susan (Anthony) Muscatello and Rodney (Mary Beth) Bowyer; her sister, Anne Sheely of Austintown; as well as many adored nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Julie's legacy of love, generosity, and resilience will continue to live on through all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Julie will be laid to rest privately at Lake Park Cemetery. In honor of Julie's generous spirit, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, OH 44514, or to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, 9500 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44195.
