Downtown Greenville businesses seeing some students stay in town for work
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — With no ECU students in town, it encourages some locals to come to downtown Greenville and enjoy the atmosphere.
Some say it's almost more encouraging to come out since they don't have to worry about student traffic and overcrowding. A few students are staying in town this week to work for some extra cash while others are leaving town for Spring Break.
To encourage more customers, some businesses are rolling out spring break and St. Patrick's Day specials.
'Spring Break is always a little unpredictable,' Owner of The Scullery Matt Scully said. 'We've had a good day today, which is nice. Of course, it takes away a lot of the student traffic that we depend on.'
'We rely on our locals pretty heavily in and out of the year. So, you know, they always come out and support us,' Co-owner of Nash Hot Chicken Ryan Griffin said. 'And, you know, Spring Break just brings another opportunity to reach other people that may be afraid to come downtown because of the college kids, so we welcome those with open arms.'
They encourage everyone to shop local to help out with the break dip as much as they can.
