GABBIA IS THE MVP FROM AC MILAN v MONZA
AC Milan finished the season with a 2-0 victory over Monza at San Siro, thanks largely to a solid performance by Matteo Gabbia, who was named MVP. The centre-back opened the scoring in the 64th minute, heading home from a Chukwueze corner. His defensive alertness helped the team to keep a clean sheet, further proof of his importance to the side. Gabbia had a flawless game, not just scoring, but also adding a constant presence at the back. He made two key interventions and lead the back line with assuredness and confidence. His header opened the scoring and put AC Milan on the road to victory. His ability to read the game and get to the ball before his opponents was fundamental tonight. Gabbia's stats speak for themselves: one goal, two key defensive interventions and a 94% pass completion rate. His performance was an example of leadership and determination, showing how important he is to his team. With 90 minutes played, he showed off his physical fitness and top concentration levels. Having taken over 44% of the votes, Gabbia came first in the MVP poll ahead of João Félix, who scored the Rossoneri's second, Christian Pulisic, and Samuel Chukwueze, who looked good off the bench. Serie A 2024-25: Milan's win over Monza overshadowed by fan protests
AC Milan wrapped up its disappointing season with a 2-0 win over Monza on Saturday, but the game was overshadowed by fan protests against the club ownership and hierarchy both before and during the match. Milan's victory came thanks to second half goals from Matteo Gabbia and Joao Felix, moving it to seventh in the standings but not into the European qualification places, one point above Fiorentina which will play against Udinese on Sunday. Thousands of Milan supporters gathered earlier on Saturday outside the club's Casa Milan headquarters, after a season of discontent culminated in a protest asking owner Gerry Cardinale to sell up and leave. RedBird Capital Partners bought the club in June 2022, with Milan having just secured its first league title in 11 years, but the only trophy won since then was this year's Italian Super Cup, far below fans' expectations. Supporters had already made their feelings clear from the start of the campaign, unhappy with the selection of Paulo Fonseca as manager, and the Portuguese coach was replaced by compatriot Sergio Conceicao in December. Along with RedBird chief Cardinale, club Chairman Paolo Scaroni, CEO Giorgio Furlani, senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were all targets for supporters' anger in Saturday's protest. The fans also called for the return of their hero Paolo Maldini to the club, after the former Milan defender was sacked from his technical director role in 2023, another decision which strained the relationship between supporters and owners. After they marched to the San Siro, the Curva Sud fans positioned themselves to spell out 'Go Home' in a clear message to their American owner, and most left the sector in an organised walkout 15 minutes into the game. 'Among our fans there is disappointment, regret, anger and frustration, these are all feelings that we also feel. Do not think that this is not the case,' club CEO Furlani told DAZN before the game. 'The season ends today and next week we start again.' Decisions will now be made regarding Conceicao's future at the club, but fans will expect sweeping changes at Milan if it is to see a return to the glory days.

AC Milan end Serie season amid widespread protests
AC Milan have beaten last-placed Monza 2-0 in their final match of the Serie A season amid widespread protests. Matteo Gabbia scored with a second-half header at the San Siro then Joao Felix converted a free kick as Milan moved up to seventh place on Saturday. Earlier, thousands of fans protested outside the club headquarters over Milan failing to qualify for Europe and losing to Bologna in the Italian Cup final. There were more protests inside the San Siro. Fans on the upper level at one end positioned themselves to form the words, "Go home." Then they walked out during the early stages of the first half. There were also chants aimed at Milan's American owner Gerry Cardinale. "Cardinale, you have to sell. Get out," the fans said. Milan began the season as potential title contenders but ended up 19 points behind champions Napoli. The seven-time European champions were eliminated by Feyenoord in the Champions League playoffs in February. Meanwhile, city rivals Inter Milan will play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final next Saturday. Genoa won at Bologna 3-1 with two goals from 18-year-old Lorenzo Venturino. The defeat still didn't prevent Bologna fans from celebrating another strong season, which included an Italian Cup trophy and a Europa League berth. Bologna were left in ninth place while Genoa was 13th. Vitinha put Genoa ahead early and Venturino made the most of his first start with two first-half goals, the first of which included some fancy dribbling past several defenders. Riccardo Orsolini pulled one back for Bologna in the second half. AC Milan have beaten last-placed Monza 2-0 in their final match of the Serie A season amid widespread protests.
