NEW YORK (PIX11) — Pride Month officially begins on Sunday, June 1st, and The Queens Pride Parade is kicking off the season. Over 50,000 people are expected to attend the celebration in Jackson Heights. More Local News A parade will proceed down 37th Avenue to 75th Street, followed by a five-hour multicultural street festival. Over 140 groups, colorful floats, and elected officials like Mayor Eric Adams are expected to attend. The Queens Pride Parade is one of the most diverse LGBTQ+ events in the nation, officials said. THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A repossession of a Con Edison gas and electric meter from a property in the Bronx led to the seizure of over 300 pounds of illegal THC and cannabis products on Friday, authorities said. Magic mushrooms were also discovered. The City Marshal's office and Con Edison were at 967 Longfellow Avenue to serve repossession papers for the meter when they unexpectedly stumbled upon a grow house, officials said. More Local News Upon entering the building, authorities said multiple weed plants were cultivated there. The Sheriff's Department ultimately seized 270.1 lbs. of growing cannabis plants, 56.2 lbs. of cannabis flower, 23.9 lbs. of edibles, and 1.8 lbs. of psilocybin mushrooms. According to authorities, in addition to the seizure, the location was issued multiple civil violations, including a vacate order from the Department of Buildings and violations from Con Edison. In total, 350 pounds of weed were seized, and the building was issued an immediate closure. A further investigation is currently underway, police said. BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The NYPD was looking for a 4-year-old girl from the Bronx. The child was last seen on Friday at 3:20 PM, near East 167 Street and Third Avenue in the Bronx. Authorities said she was last seen wearing gray pants and a gray shirt. More Local News According to an NYPD social media post, the girl was last seen with a woman with red hair who was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt, and white shoes. She was later found, police said. Students aim to raise $2,000 to benefit Yu and Me Books. More Local News Members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community at the High School of Art and Design have created 'Have You Eaten Yet?' A 28-page collection of food stories that illustrate the connection between food, history, and the experiences of the AAPI community. Proceeds will support Yu & Me Books, NYC's only Asian-owned bookstore dedicated to elevating AAPI voices. Art and Design High School PTA Inc New Yorkers who want to support young artists can make purchases on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at an event at the High School of Art and Design, located on East 56th Street. SUV driver flees after hitting 2 girls in Queens: NYPD

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Two girls were struck by an SUV in Queens on Monday afternoon, according to police. Officers responded to a 911 call for multiple pedestrians struck at 1:11 p.m. on 37 Avenue and 73rd Street in Queens, police said. Authorities say an unidentified driver in a Toyota RAV4 drove through a red light as they were driving westbound on 37th Avenue. The driver struck an 8-year-old and a 4-year-old girl who were traveling southbound on 73rd Street. The SUV driver did not stop and fled to unknown parts, police said. The victims were transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for any injuries they may have sustained, authorities said. The status of the victims is not clear.
