Delano-Hitch Aquatic center opening in 2025: Season passes, hours, key details
Summer season 2025 passes are now available at the new Delano-Hitch Aquatic Center. City of Newburgh residents can purchase season passes until June 23, when passes open to the general public.
With a price tag of $15 million, the newly built aquatic center is part of the 27-acre Delano-Hitch Recreation Park in Newburgh, located at 401 Washington St.
Matthew Nordt, director at the City of Newburgh Recreation Department, said the project was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and New York Statewide Investment in More Swimming (NY SWIMS) grants. The city office wrote that the taxpayers did not incur any cost for the facility.
Plans for the project took shape in 2022, followed by one year of construction to erect a new structure. The previous pool on the property had not been in use since 2019 and was completely demolished, Nordt said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 23 at 2 p.m. The anticipated open period is May 24 through Labor Day. The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
